The Warriors (1979)
Still Hold Up
This Movie came out the year I was born. It's now 2023 and this Movie still holds up. You have new shows including family guy that still reference it and some movies even. This was one of the other movies from that era that was made in such a way that you can still go back, watch it and you'll find things in the world today that will align with the movie well. It's crazy cause when we were kids we thought that Back to the Future cars would be flying over head and that we'd be all wearing lace up shoes lol. But you can't hear the iconic line. "Warriors.. Come out and play" without at least, doing the voice in your head from this movie.
Great movie still.
Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man (1991)
One of the best Movies of 1991. Especially for a Comedy Spoof type.
I know that it's not the Most liked by Some. Even Mickey R. Said he wouldn't have made it again if Given the same opportunity. However I and most that I know, Loved this Movie. I had even bought the Jacket, The Chaps as well as the Kidney Belt. I found the fact that they used Brand Names for the Character names was very Unique and still hold true today I. Movies. Especially since most movies now are all CGI and it takes away from the Story lines. In this you still had to act therefore making it much more important to be a good Actor/Actress. The fact that not only Mickey. BUT also Don Johnson were oth it as well as more Big Name Stars goes to show some at least had fun filming. I will still watch this movie and don't watch movies on repeat there are very few I can watch more than once.. at least until I get old enough to lose track of my Memories (or in toodles case.. marbles). I'd like to see them do a more modern sequel. With a few new characters... NO REMAKES! Maybe a The Sons of type spin. But definitely don't destroy it like they have been with so many other movies.
In my personal opinion, it still stands true to the test of time and is a hidden Gem.
Demolition Man (1993)
Alternate Reality, Futuristic, Great Classic Comedy/Action
Ahead of it's time, Action Comedy that rings true still
What can I say that probably hasn't already been said. This is one of my favorite films to revisit. Even after all this time the cast is killer. Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes, Sandra Bullock, Dennis Leary Rob Schneider and many more,.. Murder the plot of this movie. The 3 seashell theory I still don't get lol, but this movie was amazing for it's time. And Dennis Leary was underrated for the time he had played. I was shocked then at the cast. And looking back now it's a blast from the past. And still fun to watch, considering it would probably be considered a PG-13 film in the FCC Standards of today with what's aired on TV now. There's more diversity in that one film to shutdown even the Karen's of today, even though I'm sure they'd still find a reason to.
When the Actor had to have skill and be able to act,..to a certain level of skill. Also I believe the reason why Snipes got the Blade Role so easy. Hands down one ofy favorites to this day.
Commando (1985)
Good Ole Action Movies
A returned feeling of the 70s, 80s, and 90s
Although this was the era of the over cut, Music induced, Segways as well as over acted action sequences. Arnold Schwarzenegger hit this one back out of the park for coming to America when he did a d then bad became an Actor. (Long before the whole Gov. Thing), These Older Movies were always my favorites to revisit. Myself, they've seemed to be what stir a small feel of the days amazing feeling of nostalgic sense.
I even have what I refer to as an "ole ritual" of breaking out the Panisonic VHS Player to watch the Films with... Some I still have the Reels too. (Yes, stored safely due to the fire Hazzard). Ever since they shut down the old "drive-in" Movie Theater here not to long ago. I repurchased and also made a small own of my own. Our Drive-in used to have the old two way speakers that you could put in your snack or even food order. There were servers that would wear skates .. (the 4 wheel traditional skates), and the servers would bring out your Burger,Hotdog,Popcorn,Soda,Drinks, and Goodies to the car with the clip on tray. Since the thing opened. They just had to service the units and make minor upgrades over the years until the doors closed).
Since I've acquired a few old things that make the smells and tastes of that eras movie feel, by purchasing a popcorn popper, and some of the old candies (like the snowcaps), in bulk with a projector (for summer outdoor watching), just to capture and try to show my children what it was to be an older teen from my era. They hated the cheesey-ness of the older movies, but have adopted the ritual for their youngins. But I still love to go back in time and rewatch all my old favorites cheesey or not, and smell taste and for an 1½hours just,..Pretend that the 70s, 80s, and early 90s are alive and well. As long as none of the yonger generations come around and I put the computer we carry but call phones,.. on silent or airplane mode It works really well.
George Carlin: Carlin on Campus (1984)
One of the best comics to ever do it. He spit straight facts as comedy and people are it up meanwhile was one of the most underrated comics on the planet.
I can re watch any special, or stand up he's ever done and it's still as relevant as ever. He was an important staple in my youth and adult life cause he was one of the few that had the nads to say it how it was and still find a way to spin it to make it entertaining. He was a comedy genius and taken for granted from 78 on. His wisdom was vast and never ending and many thought it was just comedy. Yet it's all real truth when looked at from the perspective of where our society is and how much people consume. These truths are what made this man a genius as well as underrated. No one wanted to see what he was saying was actually foretelling societies future. And current events.
The Avengers (2012)
Best Superhero Series Done So Far!!
The Best Cast, Crew, Writers,Stuntmen and CGI that I've seen in all. The years being alive watching (not including reading comics my whole youth) superhero movies, especially Marvel Studios prior to Disney owning it and trying to destroy what Late great #StanLee Built. Hopefully going forward they don't screw it up like they did #TheNewMutants! Those Actors are the Avengers now and no one will be able to replace any of them. Not after that long. R en "The New Avengers" or "Next Generation" will have a Very very Hard time filling those shoes, or better,.. "suits"!! Because it was made right the 1st time. I feel. Bad for future generations. It will never be able to be done the way it was this round and all the serious fans will agree. It was spot on with the way this was done; the ones that don't didn't grow up on the comics the way we did.
