WandaVision (2021)
The begining of Phase 4.
Giving this room to move, it's only been 2 episodes.
I like the fact Bettany can also move outside his more serious role as Vision (even though he plays as Vision), in these first 2 episodes he's definitly shows a more outgoing personality, he can really float wherever he wants if he wants to.
Liked the fact they put in Stark Company from the Agent Carter/Howard Stark era, with some very short cameos (don't really know what the relation might be there, but people might relate it to Tony Stark. There is hidden stuff of course.
I'll also point also that Wanda builds her reality from the begining, but her and Vision see that some things are falling out of place, so it sets up a more dark enviroment as they come to realization.
Will update once more episodes release.
Locked Down (2021)
Not what the trailer portrays the movie to be.
Story progressively built up, it's explained the process up until the movie climax point.
I wished they would've doubled down on some scenes, felt like they overreacted to some things in the film (acting wise), but the nature of COVID is that, some people can't help but go mad over a necessary lockdown.
Not the first time i've watched Chiwetel, but on a more soft/calm movie, his voice makes the movie way more pleasant to watch.
I also liked the fact they reference some things COVID related in real life.
Surprised with how this came out in the end, but i would point out that the ends feels a bit incomplete, at least for me.
I mean they pulled off the heist but and managed to get away and luckily got hit with another 2-week lockdown, but what happened with the diamond? They just kept it during the 2nd lockdown? Were they not able to sell the diamond and donate to the NHS?
Overall it's a decent watch with the shaky camera feel and by default it's a better movie than Songbird.
Would recommend.
Soul (2020)
If it brings you tears then it's a very good movie.
I've always been a fan of Pixar but this year having this film being released, i don't know it hit different.
Yes it could've gone a bit longer i was getting really attached to Terry as porpurse, to a means 'what was his porpurse?'.
This movie is the definition of a good movie even for grownups, not to talking about Pixar's evolution on animation, this one is mostly about a message.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
You all need to see a doctor as soon as possible.
Look all i'm going to say is that this movie isn't what it seems like. Of course it has it's flaws but it's not near as bad as some of the reviews portray it to be. I went back and fourth with this one leaving me a bit on a loose rope.
First, Hans Zimmer is excellence when it comes to scoring films, and this one is another example, the soundtrack sticks with every scene.
VFX shots were great. Of course i said VFX. CGI was decent but it had it's flaws especially with the highway chase nearing the end of it. Physics were definitly odd. But like i said no movie is perfect. Well probably one.
Actions scenes were on par, they actually didn't disappoint, and you will find that pretty quick.
The jet scene was a bit odd, no jet flies that far without being able to refuel, unless they made stoppages after the 4th of July segment while off camera. The jet it's not news, because it made appearences on the comics.
And the Amazon suit? Remember Barbara said she wanted to be number one, on some occasions Barbara overpowered Diana, so it seemed to be more supernatural than she thought it would be. The only way Diana was able to beat her was to get to Max Lord first.
Acting. Pedro Pascal went off. Like seriously off. Gal Gadot was even better than in the first movie, but man Pascal was the gift that keeps on giving. For me it felt like he got more physcotic as he kept granting wishes. He probably was a bit too smug on his first minutes but you will get it.
A couple of facts, it's more of a wider message being sent here. This film is nowhere near feminist, as i heard a couple folks saying. There is rumours it's a 'standalone' film, so yeah, found it weird while watching the movie, but it made sense after researching a little bit.
It's there you don't need to dump on this movie, kinda excited to see what Jenkins will bring to the Squadrons Star Wars series.
Okja (2017)
Superb cast job i want to ball my eyes out.
I had to stop eating my dinner for a hot minute when Okja decided to unload.
Hello Carter (2013)
Worth the watch.
You can tell Charlie is such a innocent human being.
The Banker (2020)
It's a fun movie.
Being an Apple Original i wouldn't expect less of it.
Inspired by true events, it portrays social problems that still happen to this day.
One other thing i'd point out is that it must've been hard for Mackie to play such a serious character considering he is fairly humorous, not over the top humorous but he brings light wherever he comes. Even when having Samuel as his co-star.
Samuel was on a roll with this one.
Twelve (2020)
They didn't miss with this one.
Why was Meek's hollywood debut so damn well performed and on such a pivotal role? It's such a criminally underrated/good movie.
Tenet (2020)
Bit of a Hit and Miss.
Alright alright alright, how do we start this? First of all, i don't know if it was just me but, punches in this film feel like hitting nothing, no sound at all was being projected.
The concept of the film felt pretty good on paper, not gonna say it was a bad film but there was a certain amount of hype behind the film and of course it did not live up to it. It was kinda of a brain fart that you need to watch twice. Editing is not as good as Interstellar or other of his movies.
The cast did their roles as they should, as alway Nolan manages to get studed casts for every film ever.
I for one, am a fan of Nolan's cinematography shots. Always on par.
A must watch nontheless. (Not including other interesting facts)
Greenland (2020)
Probably a better itineration than 2012.
To be honest i wished they stopped at the climax point, there was so much leading up to it, i think they should've cut a significant bunch. Maybe they just wanted to tell there was hope.
Cast is kinda stacked, only talking about Gerard, Baccarin, Scott Glenn, surprisingly and McCallany.
I think they did pretty well, considering it was a constant rush while watching the film. Gerard tried to pull an american accent but i think i gave up 25 into the film.
VFX were pretty hit or miss. They definitely did good, but you could notice pretty blatantly that some were in your face. Considering they had only 35M for a budget they did remarkably well.
Freaky (2020)
A movie you don't need to watch every minute.
I for one liked the work that Kathryn Newton did on The Society so that was the main reason i watched this film.
From the get go it's a very standard movie, all the cliché stuff is there for a normal teenage movie. Althought there was a interesting twist. Vince Vaughn actually played a interesting twist on the movie, and if it wasn't for him i'd probably give this a 4. At a certain point you get the plot of the movie and it's good they managed to add a touch of comedy to it, even if its minimal. You can definitely laugh.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 14: The Tragedy (2020)
Engaging episode nontheless.
Don't get me wrong, story wise, it's been killer since the beginning, today for me it's just not that perfect 10. There's a reason to it.
Chapter 14 had a bit of a problem, it's rumoured that there was a last minute replacement for the director, just pinpointing the fact that some shots seemed a bit incomplete (special effects), or in other words the execution was not there, at least i felt like there was something missing in Chapter 14 comparing to the rest of this season EP's.
You Cannot Kill David Arquette (2020)
A hard working man who doesn't care about critics.
I personally had and still have a fond love for wrestling. Back in 2010 the business was on it's peak, it came down a little bit, but there's a new wave going around.
I think it's a story about Arquette proving the world wrong, he proved if you put your mind to it you can do it, even with the little blocks you have on the road. He pretty much sealed people mouths when it came to his WCW critics.
I think there are a decent amount of very well done cinematography shots in here and also very well edited.
I didn't know Luke Perry had a son in professional wrestling, in which he is doing pretty good from what i've been following, but i immediately recognized him. I loved the memorial they had at the end.
If you want to see familiar faces and also had/have a niche for the sport then i'd recommend watching it.
Snowden (2016)
For the geeks.
I always seek interest in real life occurrences, and this one is no exception.
I personally enjoy Levitt's flicks and somehow Levitt resembles so much of Snowden, at least image wise, the speaking formality was kinda odd, because i always thought that Snowden was really calm and had a few pauses during his speech, might be wrong there. Levitt had kinda like a speech where he would just eat a couple of words.
I also really liked the fact that they managed to get a Snowden cameo, really brief but it's a nice touch.
Story is, movies based on real life events can be at times very good if done well. Might have not been as movie said, but they also warn at the beginning, but movies like this need a bit of a kick to make it more spicy.
Jungleland (2019)
Worth the watch.
Is it me or does Charlie Hunnam look so loose? I don't know i enjoyed his performance.
Funny how i came across this film. I was searching for Bare Knuckle fights on twitter, which is a thing in 2020, and the trailer comes up. Finished up watching and told myself "I need to watch this".
Movie is also pretty decent, everything is on the nose, but i will complain about on thing... The movie just ended way to soon, i think they could've gone a bit further explaining things after the fight, it went from 100 mph to 0.
It has a very indie vibe to it.
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)
Not me saying it makes fun of superhero movies.
This movie is so good, although it may seem that the movie is a one take shot there is cut where you don't see which i give them kudos for that.
I mean it's a movie about a washed up superhero, starring Keaton. Ironic right!? He is not washed up but i still thought that detail was funny. Also from the beginning there is a couple Avengers references, which age very well for a movie from 2014. And it's also funny because Ed Norton is an ex Avenger. You will also pick up a bit of Venom characteristics in there.
I personally loved the shots from the movie, a bit shaky, but they fit, also the one color shots that often appear are so good.
Acting is very good considering this was shot during a very short period of time and also considering that other actors were doing other projects like Emma Stone, which she was recording The Amazing Spider Man.
I will say that you should definitely watch this much, because it creates a fine line between superhero, and current broadway.
Demolition (2015)
Something that's very real, in our world.
It pretty much sums up that Gyllenhaal can do anything if he puts his mind to.
I personally get bored with these kind of stories, but yet i just think that he brings life his roles. It's the rawness of its subject if you compare it to his finests works to date.
Story is pretty soft and mellow, yet the shots of the movie manage to keep you enganged. Synopsis pretty much summons up the plot, it's there.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)
Video Game type of movie.
I'm not gonna say it's one of the best movie of the decade, but in a sense it was a fairly decent movie for the type. At the beginning of the decade a lot of VFX and CGI heavy movies started to get released.
It's an all-star packed movie. If many of the stars were still rookies at the time, they have grown over the decade.
If you haven't watched the movie, please do, its a fairly cultural movie for the geek.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Holy smokes...
I mean, it's just random episodes, but what's better? The surprise of not knowing what comes next. The thing in every episode is that if there's action or not, there's always a punchline to it.
Not to even talk about CGI and Animation. It's beyond this world. It's the Youtube duration type of episode that makes you binge this. They could make this series run literally forever if they had the resources.
A Most Violent Year (2014)
A beautifully cinematography put together.
At the time i was watching a got distracted a couple times, but this movie speaks for the title of this review. It was my first time watching Oscar Issac, i still think i need to watch a couple more movies to understand his acting, but it was a good performance nontheless.
The story is pretty straight foward, nothing to crazy, easy to understand with just a few action scenes, or scenes with more attention, whatever you wanna call.
Cinematography wise, it's beautiful in my opinion.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Unappreciated flick
I know there's a review with the same topic as mine but, let's put it this way:
1. Script and some of the acting are pretty mid.
2. Action scenes are by far the best i've seen since X Men First Class.
Like there's no way, people actually let the work that people put in fly by, these are by far the most action packed scenes. It's like they almost tell the story without boring speech scenes, althought there are some moments that really complete a few points.
I was really skeptical about watching it, but this is a strong 7 to light 8 movie. Focus more on the action.
Can't really get enough of Fassbender, oh and Sophie did a really good job.
Atlanta (2016)
A modern day genius.
Really? is there anything donald can't do? tbh i just saw the announcement that s3 an s4 are coming out or still in pre-prod or production.
connection between episodes doesn't exist, but let's not go there. you can still tie a few things even tho the EPs are not follow ups.~
the acting for the main characters? let's not even go there, brian tyree knocked it out of the park.
there are good highs and good lows like the memorial do brian' mom, which imo was a perfect homage to his mother.
people will only acknowledge this when they see the show. can't wait for s3 and s4.
Shen ye shi tang (2019)
A nice little story surrounding food
This to me was a pleasure to watch, i think the reviews don't do justice to this in particular. To me this was very refreshing even if the stereotype says these type of food movies are dumb, this one is not. There are welcoming vibes in the movies all over the place.
