Dragon Ball Z: Escape from Piccolo (1997)
underrated episode
Gohan advances so much in this episode -
he makes his first human friends
he learns a valuable lesson about growing up
he learns what it is truly to be free, for the first time of his life
and he finally understands what he must do and that he holds great power, it would be a shame and waste it doing nothing.
As a watcher, after all gohan's struggles, you cheer for him and you want him to reunite with his family but throughout his journey, gohan learns so much than his time with his parents actually, he learns to survive, to find food on his own, he overcomes his fear of heights, he learns how to make friends, he learns a lesson about death and becoming mature and caring for other people.
By the end of this episode, gohan is ready both mind and soul to begin his training and it was well earned journey.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Enter: The Shredder (1987)
Best TMNT episode of all time
I'm not exaggerating. This is the best episode of TMNT in all series. It has some of the best action and fight scenes for the tmnt and the story just gets better each second. Not only that, we get the first appearance of bebop and rocksteady and it is magnificent, cementing themselves as must have characters in the tmnt universe. I think this is also one of the more serious episodes of tmnt 1987 - you see them train, fight robots, fight other mutants, solve puzzles and think outside the box. Each turtle is unique and you know what kind of lines / behavior to expect from each turtle. A must watch for any TMNT fan.
Murder She Said (1961)
it was ok
Is it just me or do all detectives always eaves drop in the most crucial conversations?
Also Ms Marple is doing it because she read a lot of mystery novels? I thought that by now she is pretty famous for solving murders and using her intellect. Poor line.
I felt like there weren't much high stakes so you weren't really convinced that someone had really killing intent. The twist is good, don't get me wrong but still it felt like there weren't other good candidates with good motived besides the motive "he looks mean so he must be the killer".
In summary, it has some nice dialogue and you do get to enjoy the banter of Marple and the kid or the old man and you get a good twist but other than that, not much else.
Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons (2022)
Perfect adaptation from comics to film
This is what the super sons feels. Its energetic, its fun and its super.
You get to see the relationship of superman's son Jon and Batman's son Damian as they try to save the world together. I think this is one of the best portrayals of damian in animated movies and Jon is great too. This movie gives great vibes and is packed with good animation, action and fight scenes. What's also great about this, they portrayed superman and batman really well. Even their fight scenes.
Its a little doozy until u meet batman but I think its worth it. The plot is simple and easy to follow.
I hope they release more films like this and more damian+Jon duo :)
Suspicion (1941)
hmmm
The movie can broken down to 3 parts:
First, the exposition, you are introduced to the characters and how the love story started. Even then, you get kinda tensed if he really loves her or just a fling.
You get exposed to the characters, their motivation and how they are like.
Then Starts the build up. Sudden unxepected and uneasyness occurences happen, and you know something bad will happen after a few.
Build up was very good and you are shaking in your seat to see how the murded will happen.
Then in the final minutes, all the tension is piling and comes the big twist.
It was nice but was expecting more. There were a lot of elements that's could've been used but weren't. For example, the dog. The dog usually shines in murder mystery movies, but this movie he didn't take part in at all. All this talk about the coroner and death and poision and the milk, but again no use. As a watcher, I thought she will give it to the dog but she just did nothing.
Also the paiting
I think there could have been a better ending but it was ok I guess. Thought there will be more action with the comissioner and the police.
In summary, good movie, great cinematography, good build up but twist was meh and ending wasn't as packed as you might think from the build up.
The Usual Suspects (1995)
hmmm the big twist was too late
Hey,
just watched it. The trailer made it like its a "who done it?" movie tense with action.
The first half is just boring, hard to stay awake but you do because you heard its a good flick.
So you wait until the 2nd half and that's where things get interesting. Problem is, they wasted the whole first half so there isn't much stakes and you don't really care for any of the characters, you just want to know the twist. They get to the action part, not much, everyone dies pretty instantenous. The twist however is pretty big but also really kinda stupid. So I give it 7 out of 10 for the twist. Watch it so you get to experience the twist but if you think about it, and who they casted, its pretty obvious...
The Spectacular Spider-Man: Accomplices (2009)
Action Action Action!!
The focus in this episode is less in story and more in the action scenes (which were one of the longer fight scenes in the series) but you the juicy stuff as well like gang wars, unexpected team ups and genius mastermind plans. You won't breath for a sec :)10/10
