The Capture (2019)
Callum Turner strikes again
This series blew my mind. It's filmed exquisitely, the overall cooler tone of the series mixed with the blue glow of multiple monitors and security cameras makes for a quite beautiful outcome. The cast is phenomenal- Holliday Granger had me jumping up and actually rooting for her, a smart and calculated character who is impossible not to become attached to. Then we have Callum Turner, who truly embodies the role of Shaun Emery. Turner plays troubled characters running from their own minds (and the law) very well, proven by one of his earlier roles as the elusive Eli Bray in Jack Thorne's "Glue". Shaun Emery is reminiscent of Eli Bray in many ways, and wether it be in 2014 or in 2019, two opposite ends of Turner's career- he plays his roles well and believably. 10/10 series, amazing acting and an even better story line that will have you pulling at your hair, desperate for answers.
Glue (2014)
Riveting and heartbreaking
This series is deeply emotional and gripping. Callum Turner navigates the tragic role of Eli Bray in an intensely compelling manner, giving one of the best performances of his career. Glue showcases much young talent, with every role being believable and enthralling to watch. Heartbreaking and poignant, it is one of the greatest YA mystery series I have ever seen. Great for fans of Skins.
Yoga Hosers (2016)
I LOVE YOGA HOSERS. Fight me.
I don't care, I love this movie. I thought it was ridiculously funny with it's absurd humor, funnier upon a second viewing. I loved the texting girly teens being in an Anthrax cover band and making "I'm The Man" damn near better than the original song. I loved the cheesy 90's horror movie vibe, I loved the set design and the Eh-2-Zed uniforms, and I loved very single last performance in this movie. Literally every actor in this movie took their role so seriously and that made it even funnier and so enjoyable. Particularly Justin Long, Johnny Depp, and the yoga hosers. This is unashamedly, unironically, one of my favorite movies. If you are capable of watching a movie just to have fun in this era of all these pseudo-psychological bs movies that take 80 minutes to get to the plot, then maybe you'll like this movie. If not, go watch Pulp Fiction again. But please don't let all the bad reviews discourage you from checking out this gem. It's genuinely fun. I'd recommend it more to young adults who love badass female characters and great rock soundtracks, but regardless it's just fun as hell.
