The Flight Attendant (2020)
Good plot, lazily written
Thought the first episode was really interesting. Second and third were okay, just enough to keep me interested. It just keeps going downhill from there. Just watched episode five and six and not sure if I've got the energy to watch the last two, because at this point, Kaley's character is just literally running around getting hammered and doing things a drunk teenager would do. Nothing makes sense at this point. I can't work out whether they're going for cheap laughs and slapstick or if there is some hidden storyline that I'm missing. We get that she's an alcoholic, but how are we expected to watch someone who is drunk 24/7 and stay interested? Could have been good with a different writer...
Butt Boy (2019)
Awful as it sounds
Gave it a 3 for the cinematography. Apart from that it's 90 minutes of my life down the crapper
The Outsider (2020)
Started off great
I loved the first two episodes and was absolutely gripped. Then episode 3 and 4 happened. I was wondering why the style, pacing, even lighting changed for the worse. Why did this suddenly change from an engaging mystery to a slow, arty-farty borefest where the majority of long, lingering scenes are watching people travel on public transport with no dialogue. Far too much time suddenly spent on cinematography than actual story.
Wondering why the sudden change in direction, I noticed that Jason Bateman stopped directing after the second episode and handed the reins over to Andrew Bernstein, who has seemingly made a hash of things. After finishing episode 4 and struggling to stay awake, I'm done.
I only gave it 5 stars as the start was so good.
Widows (2018)
Thrilling it's not
I gave this a 3/10 for the acting performances alone. The plot, script, direction and pacing are all badly off in this film. Pointless side stories and characters. I didn't give a toss about any of the many characters and by the time the film trundled on extremely slowly towards the final act (to the point where something actually happened), I'd already lost all interest. A shame for such a good director as McQueen but I suppose not every film can be a hit. And this certainly isn't, in my opinion. If you struggle with sluggishly paced films with little reward at the end, then avoid this one like the plague.
The Cleveland Show (2009)
Painful to watch
I'll keep this brief.
This is one of the most (if the not THE most) unfunny shows I've ever had the misfortune to watch. If you like Family Guy or enjoy laughing then do NOT watch this abomination.
What's the point in taking the most boring character out of an excellent show and giving him a spin off???
The Quagmire Show would have worked in my opinion, whether he learnt anything at the end of every episode or not.
I actually feel bad writing this about Seth MacFarlane as Family Guy is one of the funniest shows around but he has got it wrong, wrong, wrong with this.
