Doh laai tin sai (2000)
A great surprise
This film came as a big surprise!! I wasn't expecting much from a quaint Asian film, but it is a beautiful piece of cinema. There are some scenes that I have still not seen equaled in any other film.
For example there is the shoot-out in the bar at the beginning of the film, a scene which Tarantino himself could only dream of doing. I strongly advise anyone to see this film.
Wo hu cang long (2000)
A so so film.
I was expecting to see a great film.... what a disappointment! The screenplay is horrendously long and breaks some film basics for me: no flashbacks that last twenty minutes!! That alone was enough for me to give this film a rating of 5. On the positive side, the photography is stunning, no mistake there. See this film if you have nothing else to watch only, in my opinion.
Clerks (1994)
For me, all starts with this film.
Kevin Smith's "Clerks" is what truly got me interested in real films.
Here is this American film, made on a shoe string budget, two things we do not easily associate here in France... On top of that it's a good American film! Thanks Kevin Smith.
