The Laughing Man (2016)
Real Joker!!!
The back story of the joker actor Zack Avery is more interesting than the movie. The guy's name is actually Zachary Joseph Horwitz. The guy was a con artist had a Ponzi scheme going in LA and swindled over $650 million from people. He even conned his wife and close friends. True sociopath, just like the joker. This guy was a Hollywood version of Bernie Madoff. Google the guy and there are several podcasts out their that detail the acting this guy did to everyone around him. If only he put the same effort into his acting as he did in real life, he might made something of himself. He is now serving 20+ years in jail, wondering if he is laughing now.
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2007)
A Power Rangers / Harry Potter crossover film
I cant believe I actually succumbed to watching this movie. Worst I have ever seen. I tried to be patient and stick with at least the first 30 minutes thinking it would get better, nope its the same from begging to end.
The actors are not as half bad, but there are a lot of clichés throughout the whole film. The action scenes are really cheesy, I felt I was watching a Power Rangers episode for a second, it was that bad. The magic scenes felt like a Harry Potter wannabe.
Stay clear away from this film or any other Uwe Boll films as they are a complete waste of your time. This movie should definitely be on the worst of all times list, it at least deserves that much. I still cant believe that this was actually in a theater somewhere.
Zeruda no densetsu Towairaito purinsesu (2006)
Simply Breathtaking !!!
This is by far the best Zelda game I have ever played, besides Ocarina of Time. Once again you wield the master sword with the legendary hero Link in a quest to save the land of Hyrule from evil forces. I don't want to spoil anything here concerning the story, so I will not get into it, but if you have played previous Zelda games then it flows in somewhat a similar fashion. The stunning graphics as well as the music is very appealing. The game play is awesome, I would assume this to be even better if you are playing the Wii version. This was one of main reasons I decided to buy a gamecube. I have been a long time fan of the Zelda series since a Link to the Past been released on the SNES back in the early 90's, so I am able to appreciate the growth of this series throughout the years. This is a must for any gamer out there, if you don't take my word for it, at least rent it and try it out.
Cast Away (2000)
Outstanding. A MUST SEE!!
I have to say I was utterly moved by this film. This is watching it for the second time after its first release almost six years ago, and I think it was better watching the second time. Tom Hanks was amazing in his role, especially when 80% of the movie is just him.
The whole story is an embodiment of struggle, hope and the will to survive, emotions every human being needs to experience. It seems that some people have under-rated this movie, I just don't think they understood the real message behind it. Wilson, even though just a volleyball, was a symbol of friendship, he helped chuck in his journey of loneliness. The part where chuck loses Wilson was so emotional; it actually made me cry, at that moment I forgot he was even a volleyball.
If you haven't seen this film then you're definitely missing out and if you didn't like it or at least appreciated it then you don't deserve to watch good movies like this. I just wish Hollywood brings out more good ones like this one. Great job Robert Zemeckis.
Tsotsi (2005)
Superp.
This movie shows the reality that exists in a South African township and how children have to grapple with the ideas of pursuing a genuine socially acceptable career or crime. Basically, a lot of youngsters in South African townships turn to crime as hope dwindles from their minds and material belonging become a goal. This movie was able to take a devious soul and turn it into a butterfly. This movie is poignant in every way and brings everyone home. We all live from day to day earning our way around until we finally see the hurt it may cause to others. Some turn a blind eye but as in Tsotsi, the anger of it all set into the heart of this boy. He decided to make a difference and this movie portrays it in every essence. I believe this is the best movie that has ever been produced out of Africa. It deserves more accreditation than what it has received and I believe that if South Africa were more acknowledged, it would reap the rewards it rightly deserves. Acting and direction was superb, as was Zola's performance.
Akeelah and the Bee (2006)
A mesmerizing movie
The movie contained and excellent cast, Laurence Fishburne was amazing in this one. I think he played the character of the coach very beautifully. Also the mother of Akeelah was not bad. Most characters were developed throughout the film greatly.
The storyline moves very well and kept me very well entertained throughout the whole film. There were some flaws here and there with the scenes and some acting but the overall emotion of the film covered most of them up.
If you see this film you will leave the theater with some tears in your eyes, because I got a couple. Overall I think this is one of the best movies I have seen this year so far, you have to see it.
Silent Hill (2006)
Not bad, could have been better.
This was not a bad crossover from a video game to a movie in respect to some other movies that were made from similar genre such as Alone in the Dark, which was terrible, and Resident Evil. In addition I played every one of those video games. I understood there was going to be some compromise from fitting in a 9-hour video game story into a 2 hour movie, but for any of you who played the game would realize that the characters a bit different (No Harry Mason) so is the story, which kind of lost me for a bit.
The one thing that kind of stuck out to me was the overwhelming CG through out the movie I heard some villain monsters were actually costume get up, and I think I could tell which those were, but undoubtedly there was a lot of CG here which in some sense didn't make it as realistic enough for me and that where some of my voting points where gone to. The other aspect that lost out some points from me was the Acting, I am no movie critic and I usually don't point out acting, but for this one I have to point it out because it was sticking out like a sore thumb. There were a couple of scenes where the main character plus some others seem like they were acting in a school play.
Overall the creepiness of the movie I think kept the movie interesting, however I think I was more creep-ed out when I played the game. So if there is absolutely no other movie you want to watch and you like the creepy ones this one was not bad, but I would hold out for the DVD.
The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005)
Finally A True Story Nicely Told.
This movie was amazing. I rented this movie thinking it was going to be another sports up movie of how the little guy wins against the big dudes, but there was more to it than that. For a true story I think it it was told pretty close to the real thing, I mean there weren't a lot of Hollywood add on gimmicks. I was pretty amazed by the acting plus for a person like me the movie managed to get some air dust in my eyes.
OK the movie was a bit stretched for two hours but there was good fillers throughout the movie, it kept me entertained all the way. I think Bill Paxton did a great job in directing and the characters did there parts pretty well. If you got nothing to do and tired of crappy Hollywood films pik this up you will like it.
