Love this film.

Crimes of the Heart We all have crimes of the heart.....sad, true, and blissful....at times...this film covers all the territory. Based on the successful play this film gathered an ensemble of some of the most talented actors and actresses of our time, which includes Sissy Spacek, Sam Shepard, Tess Harper, Diane Keaton, and Jessica Lange. Taking place in the south, we follow the story of a family's relationship and how they are dealing with their sister shooting her husband. With the strong female cast we can't help but to feel their pain through their emotions, relationship with each other, and how they deal with life. Great strong character choices, yet sisters with something even greater in common....love of family, and loyalty. There are many lessons to learn in this film and one of the most important is you can't turn your back on your family, even when you run away they will be there for you. The acting is superb, the honesty is great and in all a wonderful film to see. A true classic!! When family gathers....everything comes out.

This film rocks!!

Psychological thrillers are my favorite type of films....if done well they will scare you and make you think. This movie did both for me as well as being just plain good old entertainment. In a small town in Tennessee in the 1800's a family was haunted or I should say terrorized by an unknown presence. We immediately suspect the neighbor, Kate Batts, an eccentric character who was once John Bell's business partner in a land deal that went bad. Kate cursed the family, Mr. Bell's health, and the daughter Betsy Bell. I won't give away the ending and tell you what happened to this family but we follow them on their journey as their life is forever changed by this torture. There is something about this time period that makes it even scarier, an old estate in the south, and their were no police to protect them just the reverend and the local school teacher. Don't all good classic scary movies take place in the woods...or on some piece of land far away from the rest of the world? From the haunting noises, the suspenseful moments, the moving of the blankets, the creaking floors, and each moment in between the lines we are taken in from the beginning. I loved Donald Sutherland...he should get an award for his performance. Check out this film and bring someone to hold onto.

Best movie of the year......Wow!!
29 April 2006
Crash Wow the movie of the year! OK I can see why this film made the top ten list, but why did it get film of the year? Maybe because their was some greater lesson in the film....life, relationships, honesty, truth, real situations, greed and power......I guess these are the factors that make a film great. I liked the story line, and the plot was rich....eventually all the characters were intertwined with each others lives. I guess I have to see it again to appreciate it. All of the characters changed in some way, their was a lesson learned and we follow them on this journey. It is the most boring thing in the world when you don't care about a character or watch them for 2 hours and they don't change. Yet this film did both for me. When a movie wins an Oscar....I ask what is this telling the general public.....maybe that there is a lesson within this film that we all can learn from. So you must see it if you haven't.....and be careful who you crash into.....nothing is an accident. My vote is 6 out of 10 for this film.
