La terra degli uomini rossi - Birdwatchers (2008)
Excellent film
BIRDWATCHERS is an extremely strong narrative drama about the struggle of native Brazilian Indians against globalization. Fantastic cinematography, soundtrack, and performances. The dialogue can be sparse at times, but that is appropriate for the characters. A very engaging and interesting film that every true cineast should see. Not for people who are looking for mainstream Hollywood fare. Truly one of the stronger narrative dramas to come out in the last 3-4 years. This film should have a good run at arthouses and then on DVD. If you haven't seen it at festivals, you should definitely try to catch it when it goes into theaters.
Black Sheep (2006)
great zombie film.....with sheep!
I went into this film with high hopes, but no expectations and I was very impressed with it. This is a great zombie film with plenty of suspense and jump-out-of-your seat moments. The actors all did a great job and it was shot extremely well. It is a very fun and high quality movie. I had read someone else's comments about it being full of low-brow humor and fart jokes, but there were actually only two jokes in the entire movie that would be described that way.
Anyone who likes the "serious" zombie movies like Dawn of the Dead or 28 Days Later would enjoy this film as would the audiences of lighter films like Shaun of the Dead. It's somewhere in-between the two. I definitely recommend it.
Incident at Loch Ness (2004)
Very inventive and well-executed film.
Can't say too much without giving crucial elements away. Just saw this at a screening in Boston and thought it was one of the more clever independent films I've seen in the past two years. Any cinema buffs, sci-fi fans, or documentary-lovers would find this a very inventive, well-executed, and highly entertaining piece. It seems like it would be unforgivable of any fan of Werner Herzog's to not see this film. You don't need to be a fan of his films to thoroughly enjoy this doc though. I have never seen one of his films before, but I went right out and rented two of them after seeing this film. Great cinematography, fantastic drama, some laughs, and some pretty terrifying footage that you won't believe you just saw!
