K-PAX (2001)

Interesting concept, but what was the director thinking?
2 November 2001
I am not saying that the director shouldn't have left the ending as ambiguous as he did. The main problem was that throughout the course of the movie, it seemed that the director himself did not know whether or not K-Pax was real. This opened up too many ideas and led to a film that was, on one hand, provocative and thought-provoking, but also confusing and misleading. I think that the director's ambiguity left out the real answers, which could have backed up either argument. Rather than supporting both sides with substantial and credible evidence, the director chooses to focus on shots of the sun glistening in too many scenes just because it looks cool. I think that if the director stopped having fun with the camera and pursued both sides of the argument, the movie would have had a clearer direction.

By far the best film I have seen this year...
2 November 2001
It just goes to show you how far computer animation has come, and I am glad that finally someone is putting it to good use! For the first time this year the movie was much better than its trailers (by the way, I thought the Episode Two trailer was definately a let down). If Disney would just stop making corny after school specials and listen to the filmmaker's behind this comic gem, they would really benefit from it.

Gun Shy (2000)

Cute, funny, but somewhat unrealistic...
15 January 2001
Despite its flaws, I enjoyed the picture. There was enough comedy to make me forget about those minor details overlooked during the production. I liked the "group therapy" tie-in, and thought that its purpose later in the film was interesting, but a little predictable. Overall, Neeson gave a strong performance, and Bullock played herself. I would give it **1/2 (on a four star scale).

Quick Change (1990)

Howard Franklin and Bill Murray have created the best comedy of all time.
6 August 2000
Quick Change is my favorite comedy of all time. Murray is at his best, and has a great supporting cast to guide the film. Geena Davis and Randy Quaid complete the trio, and Jason Robards (one of the greatest actors of all time) brings the film together. Also watch for Stanley Tucci as well as the actor who plays Vince Lombino--I forget his name. Anyway, it's a really funny movie...so please add it to your list of movies to see!
