Forgotten Silver (1995)
Don't tell them
SPOILER ALERT You, reading this site, know that this film is a MOCKumentary. I liked this film a lot, and really enjoyed seeing it with someone who assumed it was all true... or at least he didn't begin to question until well into the film.
Tell them after if you must, but I think I would have liked it even more if I hadn't known!
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986)
NO, don't see it
This is one of two films ever that I think, despite that it was well made, I wish I hadn't seen.
I say well made because I think it meets it's objective of showing a very realistic 'portrait' of horrible events and a horrible monster of a person.
I say I wish I hadn't seen it since I didn't enjoy a minute of it, couldn't appreciate anything to do with the filmmaking, acting, ANYTHING at all beyond the continuously revolting character.
I know that unbelievably horrific things happen in our world. I did not want to spend that time watching them. I saw this film a number of years ago now, and it is STILL disturbing me. Yuck.
Up in Arms (1944)
Got me hooked on Danny Kaye
I have no idea why the rating for this film is so low! This was the first Kaye film I saw and, now after having seen most of his others it's still my favorite.
I had this preconception about Danny Kaye that he just made some early, cheesy musicals. Well, that is kinda true... but he is such an amazing, funny performer! One of my new favorites. Who woulda thunk it.
Happiness (1998)
Wish I hadn't seen it
Very well made film, but this is one of only two films I've ever seen that really crossed the line for me. The father/son plot went too far for me to enjoy watching. I couldn't stop thinking about the young actor, especially during their scene together near the end.
Loved the rest of the film, but still, I really wish I hadn't seen it.
