Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire (2000)
It's not horrible, but I don't know if I'd ever watch it again.
It was slightly weird seeing the daddy from THE NANNY as an evil character, and during the last little bit I kept wondering how they were going to manage to kill the vampire off, this was a Disney Channel movie after all, can't exactly ram the stake in his heart here. But it wasn't awful, and I do so enjoy Caroline Rhea. It just felt very rushed, all of it takes place in like two days. But for what it is, basically a kid's movie, it's fine enough. It's not going to be an eternal classic by any means, but cute in its own way.
Loser (2000)
Could have been... but wound up disappointing.
I have only ever walked out of a movie once before in my life. Loser was almost the second. I had really been looking forward to this movie, and the previews were so charming. The movie fell flat.. I don't know how and I can't say where, but it is not what I was expecting at all. Although Biggs and Suvari are cute, they can't save this... and I'm not entirely sure anything could have saved this movie, except a total reworking. This is not an accurate portrait of college life at all... and I also don't feel it shows my peers and I in an at realistic light. It's not totally without ANY redeeming quality... I loved the Rocky Horror thing in the background.. and some of the cameos were fun to spot. But definitely not worth movie money. Maybe rent worthy, but only when it makes it to the cheap rack.
Paper Moon (1973)
wonderful wonderful!
I have loved this movie since i was little, even though then i didn't get most of the stuff in it. but as i got older and watched it more and more i loved it more and more. i love showing this movie to friends for the first time. i haven't had a one yet who didn't fall in love with it, especially my college roommate. to this day whenever we talk she brings up "bone structure". if you've never seen it watch it and if you've seen it then watch it with someone who hasn't.
Scavenger Hunt (1979)
innocent silly fun
i will admit this movie isn't earth shattering cinema... but it doesn't try to be. it's just a funny silly movie, with a large and odd cast. some of them may be out of work tv actors... but you've also got cloris leachman... an academy award winner. it's not perfect... but it is cute and fairly fast paced.
