3 August 2002
i really liked this movie.

no matter how many times i've watched it, i get drawn into the movie. its a very well-written story. billy crudup and monica potter were excellent (and i don't normally like monica potter's acting). and donald sutherland was amazing! but i guess i have to give credit, where credit is due. robert towne wrote and directed an excellent movie. hope you make more, dude!

John Woo's Best American movie
29 July 2002
I think this is John Woo's breakthrough American film. He did things here that he didn't do in his earlier US movies. And he did things here that he could not have done in Hong Kong. Too bad it didn't make that much money. But I believe that you will see even greater US movies coming from John Woo from now on.

i saw this movie once, and it was good fun.

now that i know the director is the one that directed 8 legged freaks, i'm absolutely amazed!

i hope the latter makes money, though it doesn't seem to be yet.

too bad for dean devlin and the gang.

Bubble Boy (2001)
I feel the need to write about this film ... =)
12 November 2001
I just saw this movie and honestly, I expected it so suck when I read about it on the upcoming movies sheets but when I saw the trailers, I began to like it

and when I finally saw it in the theaters, I loved it!

this movie rocked! it was soooooooooo funneeeee! I think its going to make cult status coz everybody hated it and then after awhile everybody will love it

the problem with the movie was the upcoming movie sheets, they described it as this guy who goes in search for love but is trapped in a plastic bubble. It sounded like another contrived Hollywood plot and so nobody wanted to watch it =( (But it WAS another contrived Hollywood plot, and it was good!)

and here's another thing everybody canned it and Jake Gyllenhaal (gawd, he has to change that name, I still can't pronounce it) was still unknown. But the same people who canned it are the same people, I have a feeling, that will praise Donnie Darko and so some of them will go back and say Bubble Boy was genuistic!

but you know what, this has happened before, remember these were the same producers who made Austin Powers nobody ever saw the first Austin Powers and then everybody saw the second one but I don't think Bubble Boy can have a good sequel.

oh well, if you feel like having a good time, go out and watch BUBBLE BOY! =)

and oh yeah, i think the writer of this movie watched the Boy in a Plastic Bubble starring John Travolta, and if you saw that movie, you'll love this one, coz it makes fun of the other one, heeheehee

Spy Kids (2001)

An Introduction to Robert Rodriguez
20 May 2001
I would just like to say that I loooooved Spy Kids! Probably my favorite movie since Can't Hardly Wait and Clueless (and let's include Being John Malkovich, too) But anyway I would just like to say that Spy Kids is a fruition of many years of hard work for Robert Rodriguez, the director. After directing El Mariachi, Rodriguez never really had any movie that seized the power and original flavor of his El Mariachi (Dusk Till Dawn, Four Rooms, Desperado and The Faculty were bombs. Dang you, Tarantinoooo! hehehe) But this movie, Spy Kids finally seized it again! It seems Rodriguez's forte was kiddie movies after all! (Remember Bedhead?) Rodriguez finally has a hundred million dollar movie and no one will ever be able to take this away from him! And I bet you Spy Kids 2 will make even more! Good for you, Roberto! And I look forward to all your further action movies to come!

By the way, if you want to get an inside look into the life and mind of Robert Rodriguez, read Rebel Without A Crew. It's a book about how he made El Mariachi. It's da best!!!

Red Planet (2000)
I thought this movie really rocked! Zubrin would be proud.
23 January 2001
I just saw Red Planet and I must say that I really enjoyed the movie. Fine, the plot was not the most exciting but the effects were gorgeous and the science was accurate as far as I could tell. I just read the Case For Mars by Robert Zubrin, one of leading scientist advocates of a manned mars mission, and the movie lived up to the science explained in the book. I must say I loved the movie, being a space geek and all, coz it lived up to almost the real thing. So all sci-fi fans and advocates of a manned mars mission, this movie is for you!

I liked this movie and I am not even a Finn
20 May 2000
I liked this movie more than I liked Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line. For some reason it was able to capture better what the other movies were trying to capture. What I liked even more was that it was able to "cheat". Meaning it was able to make it look like there was a war going on with a few well taken shots and angles and sound effects, an inspiration for all aspiring filmmakers with no Hollywood money. =)
