Apartment 1303 3D (2012)
There are worst movies
So many people regard this movie as the worst. I cant add a lot to their comments as most are valid. But it isnt the worst movie by a long shot. You guys gotta watch Nemesis 5 for that spot. The good points of 1303... it is nice to see Rebecca Mornay in another movie. It also has nice colours. Pitty about the acting quality, not sure how it cost 5million to make... surely a few thousand could do this.
Nemesis 5: The New Model (2017)
OMG
OMG! I really like Nemesis. Nemesis 2 was watchable but not a good movie. 3 was terrible. 4 was extremely bad. Now this is beyond words. I am only 30 minutes into it, it is so hard to watch. The entire running length is 70 minutes, yet the first 10 minutes is the credits... twice with about 2 minutes of crappy intro between. There are large bits of filler, watching the desert. The acting, did they just grab a bunch of mates? If it was a film students first attempt at making a movie as a school project, well... it will still be bad, but you have to start somewhere. This is really really really bad, on every level. Acting, Plot, CGI, and this 70 minutes heavily filled in movie is just sooooo boring. It's almost cringe worthy in every scene.
2001: A Space Travesty (2000)
very funny and totally underrated
I read through a lot of the reviews here about this movie and cannot wonder why everyone hates it. It isn't the best comedy, nor is it the best one with Leslie Nielson in it, but... it is funny, with some good toilet humour, some cheap shots, some downright silly stuff which all adds up with a quite good and funny climax to the movie. Give it a chance, it's worth it! Spoilers!!! the funniest part is with the Bill Clinton doubles at the concert near the end, it's also the silliest, but it's partly what gives the movie it's charm. Actually the movie is well paced also without any boring bits, you certainly won't fall asleep (like with the Hulk) and you won't get a sore behind (like with Fight Club), you will smile, smirk and laugh :)
The Tomb (2007)
unique
I reckon this movie is unique. Because of that I give it a 2. It is unique being so bad it is in a category of it's own. Let's call it an 'F' Movie for failing on all accounts.
From the silly scene where they find the girl who was attacked with the plastic axe who for some reason talks a *LOT* for someone with some of their brain sticking out to the horrible music which almost completely drowns out the bad dialog.
This movie really looks like a makeup student's homework assignment and probably some other student's script writing homework assignment. Not only that, these possible students have no talent! Heck they even got other untalented people to act in it (if you want to call it acting).
Now I wonder... if I made a movie would it be as bad as this? I can only hope... NOT!
Howard the Duck (1986)
One of the 80s greats!
One of the only things funnier than this movie is reading some of the negative comments about it in here. Are these people serious? Howard the Duck is a fantastic sci-fi comedy romp with a cool plot, awesome special effects, good acting. Sure it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it definitely is well made as you would expect from George Lucas. Leah Thompson puts on a good performance and so does Howard. There is even a young Tim Robbins in there. The movie mostly is a comedy but with some sci-fi and horror elements (my younger brother freaked when he saw the cigarette lighter bit) but still it is suitable for all ages - perhaps with parental guidance for the young ones. Don't take my word for it that this is a fantastic movie - watch it!
Knocked Up (2007)
um, I didn't realise it was supposed to be a comedy until I read comments here AFTER watching the movie!
What can I say? Terrible movie? no, was it entertaining? barley. The trailer left the impression that it was a comedy, but watching it left the impression that the trailer was misleading. It was definitely a drama! OK, I don't mind the odd drama, but could I recommend this one? no. Definitely didn't think in general that it was humorous. Pity IMDb wants me to write 10 lines of text about this movie, it really is hard so this bit really is filler to tell you it really isn't funny and there isn't much good to write about it. Katherine Heigl and Leslie Mann generally looked good throughout the movie. OK, there were a few laughs as you would expect from a drama, nothing hysterical.
Smallville (2001)
full of feeling
Firstly I'm not traditionally a Superman fan, I always enjoyed the movies, but am not fanatical about Superman. Smallville really is my first real intro to Clark prior to being Superman (igoring the really bad 80s Adventures of Superboy series which really didn't cover the same ground anyway). I've never even read a Superman comic as far as I remember.
The characters in Smallville are what the series is all about. Their origins, their interaction and evolution to becoming what we all know they will be. Smallville is full of humour that I get (obviously some goes past me), but there's enough to enjoy the humour and plenty of in-jokes. The characters are ALL well done, they build up progressively over time, and pretty consistently too. They have a lot of feeling and the actors do a superb job. Even me being in my mid 30s, it's still easy to relate to them, to envy them, admire them and like them. In fact almost all characters in this series are likable.
This series has extremely good production qualities. Script writing is first class, acting fantastic, special effects amazing (think Stargate SG-1 quality). Every episode leaves me wanting more, and the next series rarely let's me down.
Smallville is definitely my favourite current TV Series.
DOA: Dead or Alive (2006)
Worth it? barely! Read On...
Writing a review on a movie based on a video game isn't that easy. Especially when the video game in question has not a lot of story and what story is there is not very good.
Like previous movies based on fighting games, Dead or Alive tries to make up a story based on the characters of the game that has little relation to the actual game. To be fair, it isn't the story we primarily go to see this type of movie for - it's for the action and in this case the girls.
The good news is that the girls deliver for most of the part. That is why I have given the movie a generous 5/10 score. I loved the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat movies, I tolerated Double Dragon and this is on par with Double Dragon - if it weren't for the girls, it would barely be on par.
The bad news is the photography, fighting and choreography are all pretty bad. It suffers from shaky camera in some scenes to hide the fact that both the choreography and fighting skills of the fighters are not that good. Heck, why not get a couple of good fighters for the roles? Van Damme, Olivier Gruner, Mark Dacascos? no, instead we get a bunch of good looking females who cannot fight and some guys who either cannot or have been badly directed.
In some ways the movie has a good tongue in cheek sense of humour, but it really isn't enough to save it from the feeling you get from watching "House of the Dead" - I could almost have sworn they were made by the same person, but it isn't the case. Wait for the video release, unless you are desperate.
Alone in the Dark (2005)
you are all too cruel, this is a fun movie
It is amazing how many people don't like this movie. I watched it before reading the reviews here and aside from a couple of minor bits of stupidity on behalf of the characters (doing things no-one would do in a situation) it was very entertaining.
I really cannot write too much without containing spoilers (and I'd rather not re-state the plot like so many others here) but if you like sci-fi movies in general you should like this. Christian Slater puts on a good energetic performance, his acting is great too. Tara Reid generally looks good enough to exist in the movie, what more could you want?
Fainaru fantajî sebun adobento chirudoren (2005)
what can I say?
I cannot say in words how bad a movie this is. I am reviewing this from a stand alone movie point of view as I have never played Final Fantasy 7. I do actually like Final Fantasy Spirits Within though, even though the plot for Spirits Within wasn't fantastic, I could make sense of it. As for Advent Children, were is the plot? It is like a total nonsensical mish mash of unrelated and incomprehensible scenes. It doesn't matter how pretty this movie looks (and it does look pretty), it cannot save it. It is a bit like a dream sequence where all sorts of non-related things happen with no purpose. I'd give it an 8/10 for visuals, but a 1/10 for story.
Wild Wild West (1999)
A blast with great special effects and Bai Ling!
This year has had it's fair share of good and bad movies, I went to see StarWars-TFM with extremely high hopes and felt it was a flop. Wild Wild West on the other hand, I wasn't expecting anything, and was extremely entertained. It has great SPFX, Bai Ling sexy as ever, quite a few laughs which make it a real blast to watch. After seeing it, I feel I can still enjoy it again - which I couldn't say for StarWars-TFM.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993)
Great Fun, Supercool comedy action.
The turtles are back in their 3rd motion picture as cool and fun as ever. This is a non-stop action/comedy martial arts turtle movie that shouldn't be missed by turtles fans.
