I am really worried that Season 6 might not happen
The_Foiler18 September 2019
This is what happened to Z Nation, another zombie apocalypse show that I enjoyed watching. Z Nation's Season 5 kind of went downhill because the stories became less captivating. Fear TWD's Season 5 is somewhat in the same boat--the stories are starting to be less captivating, less interesting, etc. There are many illogical sequences, and many boring events; I won't belabor it--you've seen the other reviewers' comments.

I'll balance it out by pointing out the positives:

1. The "doing-random-acts-of-kindness" piece at first seemed impractical, because when you're in an apocalypse, your number one goal is your survival, and the survival of your family/friends. Nothing else. However, after thinking about it, what happens during the majority of the time when you're in an apocalypse? You get bored! There's nothing to do. Yes, there are threats that are two-fold: the walkers and the bad people like Governor/Negan/Jessie look-a-like-contest-winner from Toy Story. But after learning the craft of survival, you would be able to mitigate against these threats easily. So what do you do now with the rest of your time? Man, you would be so bored that you need something to do. There is no more 9 to 5 job that will keep you busy; there are no more projects that will enable you to set goals for yourself; that goal of getting promoted is gone. So you gotta do something to pass the time, right? So yeah, these altruistic acts by our heroes seem like the practical thing to do, especially since it's been, what, 9 years since the apocalypse started?

2. I will bring up the concept of "living vicariously" through these heroes. If you look at my review for "The Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston, you'll see the same theme. Have you ever wondered why post-apocalyptic movies/TV shows like The Road Warrior, Planet of the Apes, Fear TWD and TWD, are still being shown? Ever since Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone series from the 60s (which had episodes showing the post-apocalypse), up to now (almost 70 years later), they are still showing these shows. It's because everyone secretly would like to fantasize about being in an apocalypse. Why? Well, think about it. In an apocalypse, you don't have to pay taxes anymore. You don't have responsibilities. You can go to a bar, drink all the alcohol, and not have to pay for it! You can take anything you want from malls, supermarkets, etc. You basically have the freedom that you will not get in the real world. This is why people like post-apocalyptic movies. Because of the fantasy. Viewers can live vicariously through Morgan, Alycia, Rick Grimes, Max Rockatansky, Taylor, and the rest of the heroes, and have that sense of satisfaction of fantasizing about that freedom that we don't have right now, regardless of how boring and less captivating this show has become.

Skidmark the cat is the highlight of this season!
theburrus115 April 2020
This season so far is decent, with the many situations going on with the characters. I just admired Skidmark the Cat who gets a brief moment of adoration which enhanced the while episode just from that one part. I hope he makes it out alive!

Nothing New
starsurfer8324 September 2019
This new villain seems to be a quilt of pieces of things we have already seen in the TWD universe.

Plus, a major strike for seasoned zombie killers still getting surprised that a zombie is around the corner.

Starting to get boring
ninjaboyballer30 September 2019
This show is honestly starting to get boring and more stupider. Good actors are being wasted for this stuff. The story had gone nowhere so far and I have no idea what to do about it. I will note that I don't hate any of the actors and have no disrespect for what they are doing. It's just the showrunners have gone nowhere with this story so far and it feels bland. I still like the characters it's just they are still in the same goddamn place.

Great world building and cinematography but suffers from bad writing
Holt34416 September 2019
Last episode we got introduced to The Settler in a very bad way but here we got the true introduction that is executed in a good way. I was highly disappointed in last episode but this episode was a step in the right direction with the focus of Morgan and Al, we got to see them help out a survivor and get introduced to the community and I really like them now, not as a villain but as a community. They seem to be really established which is nice to see cause of the time jump and all, the whole story sec between them was the highlight of the episode. Daniel and Grace were the other focus and it wasn't as good but the dialogue and character development was on point. Some of the writing are still really bad like with Daniel, a character that was the most interesting, smart and most bad ass character developed into this dumb character isn't a good thing for the show.

I liked the world building in this episode, expanding on what was established in the previous episodes going back to the first half and last episode. With the help of the good cinematography we got a really nice looking episode but it suffered by some bad writing at some certain places.

the plot is still forced, many nonsense, stupid characters and more kill no kill
MomentIMDB24 September 2019
After Logan and his people were killed by the new villain, we follow the adventures of Morgy and Althea and Daniel and Grace. Morgan and Althea are in a parking lot, where they meet Tom, who tells them about the new community. Althea thinks she is his girlfriend, the girl who kissed and left by helicopter. meaningless, morgy takes a walker to the community, so that someone comes out and kills him and they enter. Than? First, instead of waiting for the walkers to reach the door and kill him, he decides to leave, where they could kill him. Second, how is it that the guy did not hear that Morgy and Althea entered and literally passed behind him, very forced? Daniel and Grace are stranded since their truck got lost, after walking, walkers appear, more nonsense, we all know that Daniel used to look great and super rude, but like the whole cast, this was stupid and didn't kill any killer. Daniel is almost bitten by grabbing records for Charlie, since she helped him in the past, what a stupid stupidity, what they did to Daniel, step from being a former strong and military assassin, to a stupid person who risks his life for some records . Althea and Morgy separate. As stupid as it may be, he hears a walker locked up and doesn't even bother to kill him, and when he leaves, Morgan can't kill him, of course, because Morgan doesn't know martial arts or anything like that. Althea who is deaf, is not listening to the walker that Morgan threw and he attacks her. The only scene I liked about the episode is when Althe fights with the walker in the pool and Morgan saves her. Virginia speaks with Morgan and Althea and let them go without further ado. In the end, grace gets sick and Morgan must arrive, how much suspenses

Fair episode.
cruise0116 September 2019
3.5 out of 5 stars.

The episode continues as we learn about the creepy lady on a horse and her group of people. Morgan and Al discover a camp in an apartment complex. Its an interesting sub plot with Morgan and Al trying to help a stranger. But the episode is getting old with Al and her recording peoples stories. As Morgan goes back to his old recordings. The story is thin and stale.

A Waste of Good Actors with Crappy Writing
xjumper6516 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Daniel, the seasoned combat vet, almost gets killed by a walker because he stops in the middle of a walker attack to pick up records? Morgan has all the time in the world to deal with a walker behind a door and ineptly handles the situation as if he's new to the apocalypse and has been taken by surprise and as a result compromises their covert mission by knocking a walker out a balcony door into a court yard? Al and Morgan talk on a radio when anyone can hear them despite being within eyeshot and using hand signals? Al can't hear a walker despite the acoustics of a dead silent apartment complex made of concrete? A moving truck can't handle the weight of a poorly packed load without the transmission going out? They leave tapes for dozens of miles in every direction but they're surprised when people know their names?! Oh and the instant Morgan has an epiphany about caring for Grace, she's suddenly sick? C'mon, too convenient and way too obvious. It's just trite. Who do they have writing this show, former soap opera writers? This is what passes for writing? I've read better fan fiction. Who approves these storylines? Is there a show runner anymore?

And the other reviewer was dead on about Ginny being Jessie from ToyStory, from the cowgirl hat to the red hair to the face that looks like a doll to the caricature southern accent. It's like watching Pinocchio turn into a real boy! Oh worst line of the episode "spaghetti ain't simple...". Really? Since when? Name something that's simpler than spaghetti Jessie.

Warning: Spoilers
5x14 Rating: 6.2/10

Storyline: Morgan watches tapes of himself discussing how he met his wife and how much he loves his son. He tells Althea they should drop off more boxes before returning to the convoy. She reluctantly agrees and notices one of her gas cans missing. They quickly find a man filling up a car. He takes out a knife and begs them to leave. Suddenly, four horsemen arrive and the three of them are forced to hide in the van. The horsemen nearly discover them but luckily get distracted and leave.

Elsewhere, Grace is working on some solar panels and confesses to Daniel she is thinking about the future and wants to stockpile the panels for use at any future community they might establish. Suddenly, she gets a call over the radio from the convoy about losing the oil fields and updates Daniel.

Meanwhile, Al interviews the man they met. He introduces himself as Tom and explains the horsemen offered to help his community but later tried to kill him when they decided they didn't need him anymore. He explains his sister Janis is still stuck in the Paradise Ridge apartments and they have to find her. Al recognizes the phrase "It's not about today, it's about tomorrow" from Isabelle and promises to help him out.

In the night, Morgan asks Al if she really wants to save Janis or if she just wants the story. She tells him it's not just about the story and suggests she needs something else in there. Later that night, Morgan catches up with Al and warns her again not to go in alone. He prods her more about what's really going on and she dishes it back. Elsewhere, Daniel and Grace's transmission gives out because their truck is too heavy with supplies. Grace suggests they hole up in a place nearby in the meantime.

At the apartment complex, Althea and Morgan sneak in while a guard comes outside to kill a walker. They are caught off guard when a truck and some horses pull in. They recognize the tanker truck as their own. Althea reveals that she heard about the "tomorrow" motto from another person. Morgan encourages Althea to look for her person while he investigates their truck.

On the road, Daniel tells Grace that for a while, Skidmark was all he had. Suddenly, walkers show up and overwhelm them, ruining his vinyl collection. Back at Paradise Ridge, Morgan breaks into a house to search for Janis as Al finds their inventory board and location map. Morgan throws a walker off a balcony, but it finds Al and tackles her into a swimming pool. Morgan jumps in after her and stabs the walker in the head. They swim to the surface as the generator lights pop on and Virginia and her pioneers compliment them on making a hell of an entrance.

The next morning, Virginia visits Morgan and Al in an apartment. She introduces herself and explains she watched their tapes. Morgan asks about Janis and Virginia explains she took off shortly after Tom. She also assures them their friends are fine, except for Logan. Virginia tells Morgan he should speak to a psychologist in her community about losing his family. Al cuts in and asks if one of her settlements has helicopters, but Virginia asks where she got that crazy idea. Afterward, Virginia escorts them to the gate and hands Morgan his staff, repaired by a woodworker, as a gift. She reminds them they can always join her group but they ignore her and walk away.

Inside an abandoned restaurant, Daniel tells Grace he got those records for Charlie, who helped him get out of his state. He asks her to look after Charlie if anything ever happens to him, and she agrees. Grace then reveals she wishes she could help Morgan more but Daniel assures her she already has. She then spots a guitar and suggests they teach Charlie with it. Together they sing the chorus of "End of the Line".

On the road, Tom apologizes to Morgan and Al for getting them into trouble for nothing, but they assure him they'll keep looking for his sister. Later, Al tells Morgan she cares about Isabelle and was hoping she would be connected to Virginia's group. Morgan tells her he doesn't think he needs to do tapes on his past anymore, signaling he might be finally moving on. He then radios Grace and says they need to talk. Daniel picks up and says she has become terribly ill. She tells Morgan she hopes to see him again but doesn't think there's much time left. Daniel gives him their location and starts comforting Grace.

lost
Rob-O-Cop16 September 2019
There's a difference between keeping your audience on their toes and ambling aimlessly. FTWD is nowhere near the first and drowning in the later. It's well and truly all over the show now after a promising couple of episodes at the start of this season. The show does have some ace cards with characters like John Dorie (who always delivers when on screen, even when dumped in the middle of a terrible script idea), but that's simply not enough to sustain us. There are plenty of positive possible story arcs, Logan's one was one of those, but it went absolutely nowhere and delivered nothing. The helicopter lady, also a story we'd all like to be watching instead of endless discussions in abandoned rooms that don't yield as much as the writer thinks they do. There's no overall story arc, no direction, we're embarrassed for some of these really quite good actors who are getting squandered on a big nothing (poor Matt Frewer). There was something there about talking directly to threats, and not painting them immediately as cartoon black and white villains, that was interesting, but it went absolutely nowhere, and got unceremoniously discarded to usher in - the cavalry, who are not looking to make any sense at all and come across as kinda stupid so far. Of all the stories they could be telling in this wide open landscape, they choose this?

S5.E14 - Not Perfect but Entertaining [7.5/10]
panagiotis19937 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S5. E14) My Reaction / Review for Fear The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 14 ''Today and Tomorrow'': Episode 13 was a good and I gave it a rating of 7.5/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Al says that they have no gas and Morgan is like ''these boxes can help people''. Morgan needs to wake up. They are about to die and Al is like ''perfect moment to start filming everything''. They lost the oil fields, so no more unlimited gas? No Alicia, John, June, Victor, Dwight and Luciana in this episode? That sucks. So Morgan and Al risk their lives so they can find the sister of a stranger? Such nonsense, so dumb. I don't like Virginia at all, really cringe character. Daniel and Grace can sing, that's nice. Grace is sick again? That sucks. Overall a decent episode with some dumb writing, my rating is 7.5/10.

The episode successfully develops its characters while setting the stage for the impending conflicts with Virginia's group
fernandoschiavi24 April 2024
Al and Morgan encounter a Tom who is on the run from Virginia's people and searching for his sister Janis. After hearing familiar phrases from him, Al believes this group might be the same group as Isabelle or at least a different sec. They break into a complex and are later caught after not finding Janis. Virginia knows nothing about a helicopter group and has Morgan's stick repaired in good faith but they turn down the same offer she made to the others in their group though her offer still stands. Attempting to reconcile with Grace, he learns that she is ill.

Episode 14 of "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 5, titled "Today and Tomorrow," offers a deeper look into the emotional and moral complexities of the characters as they navigate through their quest for redemption and survival. The episode focuses on Daniel and Grace's mission to secure supplies, while Morgan and Althea's separate adventure leads to revealing and tense moments that test their resolve and ideals.

The episode begins with Daniel and Grace encountering unexpected obstacles as they attempt to salvage resources for the group. Their interactions are poignant, highlighting Grace's existential struggle with her mortality and the looming threat of her illness. The subtle chemistry between Daniel and Grace adds depth to their characters, showing how the apocalypse continues to impact personal connections and emotional growth. The conversations between Daniel and Grace, particularly about their pasts and regrets, are some of the most heartfelt moments of the episode.

Meanwhile, Morgan and Althea's storyline introduces new elements of danger and intrigue. Their encounter with Virginia's group, "The Pioneers," is fraught with tension and uncertainty. The dynamics between Morgan, who is inherently suspicious and protective, and Althea, who is driven by her journalistic instinct to uncover stories, provide a gripping narrative. This part of the episode effectively sets up future conflicts and alliances, as it becomes clear that Virginia's intentions might not be as benevolent as she presents.

The episode's conclusion, with Grace collapsing and revealing her illness has worsened, serves as a stark reminder of the transient nature of hope and survival in such a bleak world. Morgan's internal conflict, spurred by his interactions with Althea and his desire to help others at the risk of his own group's safety, adds another layer of complexity to his character.

"Today and Tomorrow" is a solidly crafted episode that balances emotional depth with narrative progression. It successfully develops its characters while setting the stage for the impending conflicts with Virginia's group. The episode asks poignant questions about what it means to live versus survive and whether the future can truly be shaped by the actions of today. The introspective and somber tone, combined with the intense interpersonal drama, makes this episode a compelling addition to the season.

Fear the Walking Soap Opera! Simply, Utter Nonsense. These writers are committing a social crime!
Bababooe16 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I use to write an in-depth review of each scene, with characters' actions and statements and how ridiculous everything transpired. Very much a soap opera, but worse, very contrived to the point of it could never happen. Fixing airplanes, beer balloons, Filty Woopy Zombie Wrangler, Peace Man Morgy. And on top of that pile of dung, they add so many characters that we don't know who the hell they are and why we should care. They add a freaking rabbi out of nowhere. Come on. Characters acting stupid. Like all of a sudden they can't kill zombies, after killing them for years. Here's looking at you Alycia. The freaking speeches. Hey, Morgan.

Anyway, I just can't get into all the details because, I just don't care. I sit and watch this show for laughs. The unintentional comedy. Like when Morgy starts with his stupid speech. And like the new Cow-woman sticking her nasty finger into a jar of jam, and her dialogue. Nobody. I mean nobody speaks like this. Ever. Never did and never will. Not here not in China, not in Australia or in Siberia. Just stupid.

So, what happened this week. Morg and Al are out putting out the "Helper" Boxes and they bump into Tom Dick Harry and he says he escaped from a community that is holding his sister. So what do Morg/Al do? Sure, they go in. Total BS. This would not happen. Al, thinks she's going to find her girlfriend. And Morgy just want to help. But look what happened. They go in, make a bunch of noise, Morgy can't kill a zombie, Dumb Al is in Spy mode videotaping the unsecure central command. The zombie that Morgy couldn't kill is now wrestling with Al in a pool. Not a bad shot. But what would make it worth anything is if Al got bit. Morg jumps in finally kills the walker. And Surprise! The pioneers got them. The smarmy leader gives them the short talk, which tells us noting, and lets them go. Total BS.

Now, if Morg and Al had a redshirt with them and they got killed, that would be something. It took me 2 seconds to think of that. That would be a bitter wakeup call for Mr Peaceman Morg. Please someone kill Morg.

While that's going on Grace the Radiation Lady, and Dan along with his cat Scratchems are out collecting supplies. So much soap time. Dan tells Grace that Charlie the Backstabber aka Killer of Nick saved his soul. Their moving van breaks down because of too much weight. Yeah, right. Walkers show up, and Mr Dan risks his life for vinyl for Backstab. They make it to a cabin and we get to hear a duet. Send in the clowns. Oh, they're already here.

So, to top this brilliant episode off, we get Morgy speaking to Grace who has once again fallen ill. And now it's a race for Morgy to see Grace before she bits the big one. A ticking timeline is always good.

Maybe next week Morg and Al will make it to the cabin and find Grace and Dan dead from zombies while Scratchems is taking a dump on Dan's forehead. Then Morg goes outside and blows his brains out for being too stupid to live.

Morganity by the holy Lord Morgan
sosevh16 September 2019
Fellow Morganian brothers and sisters, as you may know, the Lord Morgan (he must be gone asap) and his apostles just want to 'help everybody and anybody', even those who don't want their help. God (writers) have to do something about him, because even his fellow Morganian sister Al is getting tired of him.

*Sighs*... Don't expect too much of this episode, it's just another cringy and annoying episode about Morgan and his Morganite mini-mes doing the most absurd things possible, I'll mention just a few: Grown ass seasoned fighters not able to kill walkers, and phrases like "Spaghetti ain't simple, and it's usually messy one way or another", what's that garbage!? Haha! 1)That would be true if you were blindfolded and your arms chopped off, 2) Spaghetti is actually quite simple to make. And if you were missing those boring and mundane conversations between Morgan and his radioactive crush Grace from ep. 10 at the mall, well... in this new episode you can rejoice again with more of those mind-numbing conversations!

Also, writers of this show have completely annihilated Daniel as a character; now, he's just another flat and dull echo of the savior and Lord Morgan, just like all the other old characters (Alicia, Luciana, etc.) from the early seasons of FTWD and even Dwight (TWD) doesn't escape Morgan's gospel. WHAT A WASTE OF SUCH GOOD ACTORS!!!!!!! Season 3 was the last season that was worth watching, season 4 and 5 are pure hogwash.

So basically we're setting up The Morgan Cult VRS....
intrepidami16 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
...The Jesse from Toy Story group heading for a big conflict?

Kind of tells you the age level of the writers. I'm starting to see other Cartoon and movie characters homages. Are you? The Jessie one is ridiculously obvious, then I start to realize we started with a cowboy! And honest to God cartoonish trick shooting cowboy.

But in this review I would prefer detailing AL. She started out being this bad ass reporter with loads of video tapes, and a pretty powerful vehicle who was documenting life post ZA by interviewing people.

She's given up the armored swat vehicle and has devolved into a plot device creating character.

How many times is an outside character going to reveal they watched one of her tapes and figured out ways they can exploit them against the main group before somebody says Hey, Al? People are using these tapes against us! Theyre not helping people, they're hurting us. People are figuring out all sorts of stuff by watching them!

I'm rooting for Ginny
Ceredon110 October 2019
The dharma and Greg crew continues to make dumb decisions. For an unexplained reason, they've decided the Settlers are their enemies. They act tough but when push comes to shove they, they surrender, every single time.

The Settles seem to be what the main group should be, is they didn't decide to be SJW's instead.

More tree painting...because that serves a purpose. It's turned into a damn artists commune.

This group proves, every episode, they'd be the first ones dead in the zombie apocalypse.

Where to start from hmmmm. Why Daniel Does not go back to his warehouse that is full of supplies? Instead of wondering around. Why the convoy does not go back to the factory after logan and his people are gone? Why this group is so stretched thin, Morgan/Al , strand/Alicia, cowboy lovers/rabbi, convoy, daniel/grace. a moving truck breaks down because it is too heavy boahahahah. So I guess every moving company in north America is wrong by using them.just pathetic script And lazy writers. But hey people, Morgan got his stick back let's rejoice. The new evil guy is plain boring
jimmyfalcon6923 September 2021
And Al is so annoying with her stupid camera and interviews. It's giving me headaches. She must go away off screen faster !

Alicia became soft and blunt, I don't like her anymore. Maybe she has a depression. But make her come.back stronger.

And that guy Wes is such a nuisance. OMG! Who wrote his character ? I smash the screen when I see him on screen ! He's the "always unlikable guy at the job". Fire him faster !

Also, the way Logan was eliminated was so brainless ! He was amazing ! He could have built up a base with everyone and then the villain would came up and war ignited.

The writers have no imagination at all, they don't know how to build up to a tipping point. So embarrassing!

Seasons 4 and 5 really make me giving up to this show.

Warning: Spoilers
Every episode new characters, new side-missions, every time "our" characters survive and escape. What is the point? We don't want to watch the same things over and over again, this is not a video game so we don't need new "bosses" at the end of every episode! The conwoy is just fooling around, waiting for the "heroes" to finish their never-ending side-missions? Those people are morons? Nope, the writers are.
