Continues To Be the Best Show on the Network
ThomasDrufke25 October 2016
I definitely never thought we would see Gorilla Grodd, but I also had doubts we would ever see Mirror Master on this show. But between the two, it seemed way more likely we would get the latter. His abilities are very difficult to display effectively on a lower budget TV show, but I think they did a solid job tonight.

The question was more about whether Mirror Master was going to be one of the 'big-bads' or merely a memorable one-off. Perhaps that's a question we won't know the answer to for a while, especially considering this season seems pretty loaded already with Alchemy, Savitar, and maybe even The Rival still being out there. Grey Damon didn't necessarily wow me with his acting ability as Sam Scudder/Mirror Master, but I definitely enjoyed the different type of obstacle Barry had to overcome with the focus being on mini wormholes through mirrors.

Meanwhile, Caitlin, Cisco, and Harry chose to look for a replacement Wells to fill the gap in the team when Harry eventually leaves. It's a rather silly idea, but as a fan it had me feeling torn. I LOVE this Earth-2 version of Wells and would hate for him to not be a season regular, but it gives Tom Cavanagh to once again do something different with the character. So we did get a new Wells for next week, who I believe is from Earth-19. But it's also probably not the last time we see Harry considering we never got to hear what he said right before he left.

Speaking of silly, tonight had a ton of unnecessarily romantic awkwardness with the show's two "couples". Wally and Jesse had some fun running around the city enjoying Jesse's speed but also painfully teasing Wally getting speed/his lack of speed. I'm sorry but Wally's dialogue felt extremely cringe worthy all night long. Equally as awkward was Barry feeling weird about kissing Iris in front of Joe. Classic CW sure, but did we need this at all? It provided comedic relief, but it wasn't the kind of laughs the show was probably hoping for. Soo dang awkward and unnecessary.

It was yet another fun episode of The Flash. Loved seeing Jesse Quick in action in a speedster suit (even if it was pretty much identical to Trajectory's suit from last season). I also quite enjoyed Mirror Master and Top's unique powers and a nice prolonged cameo from Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold. Speaking of which, when and how will he come back in Legends? But tonight also gave us a further glimpse into Caitlin's Killer Frost ability. I kept wondering why she didn't just reveal her powers so that Barry would get out of the mirror, but of course she had to do it secretly. I just hope that this isn't something that will ruin her dynamic with the team or completely transform her personality. No matter, I definitely have confidence The Flash will continue to be the best show on CW.

+Wells' side mission

+Mirror Master/Top switch up the formula

+Killer Frost teases

-Romantic awkwardness

There's a new Wells in town !!!
Akshaykumar32226 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
So Dr. Harrison Wells from Earth-2 is sadly gone. And I'm guessing he'll come back soon enough. But in the meantime we've got another Wells from Earth-19 apparently. Really looking forward to seeing this Wells no. 3. This is what makes this show so unique. You've got 1 actor(Tom Cavanagh) playing 3 different characters. 3 different Harrison Wells in 3 seasons. I'm guessing they're gonna introduce a new one every season. Also excited about the fact that Caitlin has her Killer Frost's powers in this new time-line. I don't think she'll turn evil after revealing her powers, so they might come up with a new alias for her other than "Killer Frost". I said in my last review that I can't really make out what the theme of the season is gonna be. Can't be just going up against Dr. Alchemy. I'm still hoping they introduce a new evil speedster. But it doesn't deem like it's gonna happen though, as in the intro they clearly state that just like the last season , Flash is gonna do a cleanup job here as well. He opened up his world to new threats, last season from Earth-2, this season from Flashpoint. Now he has to stop 'em all. So, yeah. Pretty bummed out that there isn't gonna be an evil speedster this time. But still hoping for a pretty great season ahead.

I list it in my Top 10 TV series

Warning: Spoilers
It lives up to the hype and is much better than recently watched Dunkirk in IMAX.

S03E04 makes you care about all the characters, even H.R Wells (Tom Cavanagh). Now we've got 1 actor playing 3 different characters. 3 different Harrison Wells in 3 seasons. I'm guessing they're going to introduce one every season.

Flash has opened up his world to new threats, last season from Earth-2, this season from Flashpoint. And he accepts his mistakes, He speaks about values of success and confidence, which is an integral part of our lives. I must add, there was one line that Barry Allen said in this episode "Funny things about holograms. It is a pale reflection of the real deal." It sounded like Wentworth Miller's voice (strange!) and his a cameo was a clever way to bring him back and I hope he will return sometime in the future.

Mirror Master is one of the villains that I have been watching in the Justice League animated features.

The shower scene depicting Caitlin Snow was sexy, indeed. I am very sentimental that Snow is now going to become Killer Frost and how will Barry Allen will face it is going to be exciting.

The Flash - S03E04 The New Rogues
j_forbesy25 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I was extra worried for this episode. After being 3 consecutive home runs in my books the past 3 weeks, I was sure that this was one was going to be a bit of a miss. On top of that we were getting the return of Captain Cold and our first look at Mirror Master. This made me nervous because I didn't want an episode with two of my favourite Rogues to be a let down. Luckily it wasn't.

I loved this episode as much as the others we have had this season. This episode not only brought back Wentworth Miller as a hologrammed Captain Cold but we also got a great introduction to Mirror Master. Although only playing an overall small role, I thought Mirror Master's origin was done really well and I liked how it was tied into the explosion in season 1. It was nice to be dealing with a metahuman this late in the series that has created by the particle accelerator rather than Dr Alchemy. I thought his overall role in the episode worked really well for the greater plot. I'll talk more about this later but they are really trying to ramp up the excitement of Caitlin turning into Killer Frost. I thought they did a great job of using the villain of the week format to force Caitlin into using her powers as the only solution.

I thought that we got a lot of relationship stuff this episode, both friendship wise and dating wise. I'm all for there being different levels relationships throughout shows as long as it is contained within the story and it doesn't blow out into an Olicity situation. Barry and Iris is the relationship we have been hanging for the most and this was the first episode that to me it felt natural. I'm not saying that it never had a natural feel but up until this point, they were still trying to work out how it would work between them. In this episode I really liked how we got to see Joe's perspective on Barry and Iris. The scene in the police head quarters where Barry and Joe are talking about the relationship was one of my favourite scenes this episode. This is one of those scene where if I had to summaries all of the Flash series in a video, this would be in it because not only does it capture the moment of everything going on, it's a perfect representation of the tone the show has.

The return of Wells and Jesse to Earth 1 was something I was excited to see again so for it to come to an end so soon was a bit of a disappointment but is understandable. This of course brought and end to two of my favourite relationships/friendships we got through season 2.

Firstly, I really loved what they did with Jesse this episode. I liked how this was the training episode with her and we got to properly see her in action, suit and all. Now that she is taking up the mantel of the Flash on Earth 2 is really cool to me and I hope we get to see more of her in the future, perhaps when Wally gets his powers. Which brings me to the first relationship I'm disappointed to see the immediate end to, Jesse and Wally. From their introduction to Team Flash early last season, we knew from the start that the two of them we going to have something in common. What I really liked about them two were that they were the new kids to the team and Jesse allowed Wally to find a place in the team and the series and Wally did a similar thing for Jesse. I'm really interested to see now how this affects Wally. My guess is that with her leaving, his want for speed will be increasing which will drive him towards Alchemy.

The other relationship we saw come to an end with Wells and Jesse leaving was the three way friendship we saw grow and develop between Wells, Cisco and Caitlin. Regardless of which Wells it actually was, Cisco and Caitlin need a Wells. While I like both of them together as the tech support of Barry, there is something about having a Wells that makes the tech stuff better. I think part of this is because of the performance Cavanagh puts in every week. I really liked how we are getting a replacement Wells, but it does leave me worried that this Wells isn't going to click quite like the previous two have. The Reverse Flash Wells was a father figure because he had so many year experience working with Cisco and Caitlin. The Earth 2 Wells was different completely where we got a disgruntle Wells that was motivated by stopping Zoom, with that we saw him form a great friendship with Cisco and Caitlin. I'm worried that this Wells won't connect like the other two previously have. Either way it is going to be interesting to see how he fits into the team dynamic and with everything Team Flash has to do.

Now to Killer Frost. I loved when we got to see Killer Frost on Earth 2 so when I heard we were getting her on Earth 1, it had me excited. I like how they are slowly phasing Caitlin into Killer Frost with the end scene being the biggest change we have seen. I know in the next few episode's we are going to get a lot of Killer Frost stuff with episode 7, being directed by Kevin Smith, called Killer Frost. From looking at the comics, I can't see if we have ever got a good Killer Frost, so it's interesting to see how they handle her.

Instead of New Rogues, they should have called the ep New Relationships
imakk200125 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
QuickWest is cute and age-appropriate. Wally at StarLabs makes sense because that's where Jesse is and she'll be leaving. Iris at StarLabs = why?

Team flash moaning about Wells leaving made no sense. E2Wells hasn't done anything to warrant such a reaction from any of them, except Cisco. This is probably why what should have been a funny montage of multiverseWells came off as forced/not funny/lame scene of Cavanagh mugging his way through a couple of meh impressions. Plus, they did the same thing as last season: accept a complete stranger because he claimed to be a good guy. Cavanagh/Wells = Flash's Barrowman/Malcolm Merlin.

Barris = end of Joe/Barry. So they throw us a bone that's Joe getting a LI which I admit sounds more interesting than Barris. As long as Joe/Cecile don't act like overgrown emo teenagers.

Speaking of, 1 benefit of Barry changing the timeline: Cecile went from by-the-books DA to more open to assisting in possibly illegal meta shenanigans with Joe.

Iris continues her M.O. of having really personal convos in social gatherings, turning what was supposed a fun time for all into all-about-Iris. As Joe said: thank god the phone rang.

Flash/Mirror Master round 1 = eye-candy: moar please!

It will be interesting to see if they'll throw Caitlin to the wolves for the drama. I hope not. As much as I am not thrill about team flash, I don't want bad things to happen to any of them either.

(A CW formula: female characters are always paired with a male who towers head and shoulders above her.)

I was really excited after watching the clip released earlier in the day. But Mirror Master turned out to be a bit of a dud/Rogues still getting shafted, all the funny parts were OK at best, no CSIBarry, and it was top heavy with relationships. But at least no one was emo, and it did minutely moved several plot points.

Score: 7.9

More metas, more Wells

Warning: Spoilers
Mirror Master finally debuts on this show and he's not alone. He has his girlfriend Top with him as well. While we didn't get much focus on them it was a good enough of of a debut in my opinion. His powers were cool and the whole action scene where Barry chases him up the buildings was awesome. Top's powers were cool too but I thought she would have the ability to spin fast as well, perhaps she'll have learned that in the next episode they appear. Hopefully their next episode will allow them to be fleshed out as characters.

They have really extended the length of special effects scenes in this season compared to the previous two. We had a similarly long chase scene just two episodes ago. I've noticed that in every episode so far this season we've seen speedsters run on buildings, I wonder if that'll continue in the whole season. It's great to see that they are thinking creatively with the effects like the world-twisting effect from Top's vertigo inducing powers and the boat from last episode. Just watching the trailer for the next episode only shows that the effects department is at full work regarding this show.

Harry leaving was sad but the whole "let's find a new Wells"-mission was fun, especially the hologram messages that were shown. I knew they weren't going to pick him but I thought the french Wells seemed like a nice person and the wild west Wells was funny. Tom Cavanagh is excellent.

Barry and Iris' relationship continues to develop and unfortunately I think they should've focused more on the villains than whether it's okay for them to kiss in front of Joe. I just thought it took up just one-two too many minutes in this episode that could've been used for the villains instead. Or they should've cut the Jesse/Wally scenes that also took up too much time than they needed but they worked better so it's a tough choice either way.

Caitlin's Killer Frost subplot is going to be interesting to see and Cisco might've gotten a hint that she has powers.

A similarly icy character made a cameo, Captain Cold. I thought it was a clever way to bring him back and I hope he will return, for real, sometime in the future.

All in all I really enjoyed the episode, could've had more of the villains but I'm sure they'll be back. Next week's episode looks fun, can't wait.
