Great season.

I'm a late Homeland fan. To be honest with you all, I only started to watch the series this last year. So far, I've got to say it's still one of the few series which have managed to keep me entertained. And that's quite a difficult thing with me.

I personally like how the characters are developing, as well as the plot. Full of suspicion, betrayal and moments where you'd like to just scream for a couple of seconds.

Also, this is my first review in IMDb. As you can see, it doesn't talk that much about the episode. I would like not to talk about since I'd be giving away too much. All I can say is that you'll find many analogies to the actual world we're living now. Even though the fact that this is fiction, I think we can all agree that these things are pretty much likely to happen.

Pulled Me In Even though...

Homeland somehow manages to keep me completely engaged even though it seems to also consistently make me roll my eyes with its inconsistency. This episode is really suspenseful in parts and also sad in other parts (mostly the Quinn stuff). I like the direction the show it taking with the manipulation of conspiracy theories and such on the internet.

One of the better episodes of the season

Warning: Spoilers
Greetings from Lithuania.

So after 8 episodes in season 5 so far i can safely say that this season isn't the best that this show has created - far, far from it. At the moment i think i like this season least of all of them but it doesn't mean that its bad. Far from it. I enjoy this season for what it is. It still has intriguing plot, smart and (sometimes) provocative writing, and good very acting. And yet the more i see Quinn getting out alive from every single "he couldn't possibly get it out all alive" situation season after season, the more "Homeland" looses one of the most important things that always fascinated me about this show - plausibility. Don't get me wrong - i love the character, but i think we overstayed his welcome here - scenes with him are starting to drag and basically when seeing that he can't die - it takes away sense of plausibility from the show itself.

Nevertheless, "alt.truth" delivered one of the more intriguing and involving episodes of this season. I really looking forward to find out the "major scheme" at the end of the season and it surely was soooo good to see Saul and Carrie working together again (sort of). Looking forward for last 4 episodes.

Alt.Truth

Warning: Spoilers
At least they're trying something fresh with Quinn this season, but this pure Emmy-bait isn't going to get the desired result and isn't leading to good writing. Having him just do weird stuff with random signs of intelligence and dementia is not what viewers signed up for this season.

An ineffective hit-man too. Why not just wait out the entire 2 minutes you know a person can breathe underwater?

*Spoiler Alert*

Warning: Spoilers
This season is a crazed political fever dream. The Israelis are the bad guys, the Iranians aren't cheating on the nuclear deal and Dar is the evil puppet master who frames a guy for terrorism, sets off a bomb in New York, has an FBI agent murdered, has Carrie's child taken away, then sends the assassin to kill Astrid and Quinn. All the while he is trying to start a war. Oh yeah, in the previous episode it was alluded to that Dar sexually took advantage of Quinn when he was "young". What's next? Does Dar tie Carrie to the railroad tracks? Does he sacrifice an infant to Satan and drink it's blood? Maybe it will be revealed that he was in the grassy knoll and shot JFK.

Some clichéd scenes
dvg195519 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
While the episode was good in most parts, some parts were not that good, like Carrie losing her child to foster care situation. Carrie being a longstanding, case hardened veteran, was her reaction believable? Such a person would understand what is happening and react properly. All the scenes relating to this x situation were directed poorly. Very clichéd. Very unbelievable.

keeps getting worse

I didn't think this is going to be any worse but it keeps getting worse and worse... the plot is incredibly stupid. Two twisted unnecessarily complex and far-fetched not credible in any way. A huge disappointment.
