My Review Of "Sacred Heart"
ASouthernHorrorFan30 August 2018
"Sacred Heart" is a heartfelt exploration into pain, loss, and one's struggle with spirituality. The film is heavy on dialog with most of the story focusing on a confrontional conversation between the protagonist and antagonist. It plays out in an almost Machiavellian manner. The intense subject matter, and journey of the lead character is told with an almost elegant and personal insight by writer / director Kosta Nikas.

The cinematography is done beautifully, bouncing between stark realism and surreal moments meant to convey emotional turmoil. The action is limited, most of the scenes rely heavily on subliminal, and suggestive imagery to create suspense. There are very few thrills beyond the meat of the story - tragedy, recovery, mostly explored through dialog. The ending offers the film's only real edge.

Overall "Sacred Heart" isn't a film that most crime- noir or action-thriller fans will enjoy. The drama is long and heavy. There is very little real thrilling action, or major excitement. Still, the story is relatable, the characters are strong, and the film - on a whole - is nicely told.

Intense solid drama....a must see about religion and reality
jerry-7089615 February 2020
Great acting and script.....putting religion in the accurate perspective as a user of inane guilt and human failings to perpetuate a scam about eternal immortality....religion is the biggest and most easy con ever conceived....offers you eternal life in heaven in return for controlling your money, morals and mortality. What a perfect con. Religion has been responsible for more wars and deaths than any other reason. Sorry that guy in the sky does not exist. ....we are what we are and please just follow the golden rule, respect and love one another and you will leave this world as someone others will miss and love which is all we can hope for. Jesus may have existed as a very moral and intriguing icon in his time but he was not a god and organized religion sucking off your money and mindset was not his intention.

Excellent acting and high production values

This is an easy watch due to high production values and lovely cinematography. The lead actors are fantastic and realistic in their depiction of troubled characters. The lead actor who plays the grieving husband is an undiscovered talent with a lot of star potential. Hopefully he finds the right agents to rep him so that his career can really take off. His looks and talent make him deserve a lot more attention. Great little film and glad I found it on TubiTV

Deserves a higher rating

There's no mistaking that this is an indy film, but some indies naturally glide me into a more forgiving and tolerant attitude than if I would have watching one of Hollywood's massive-budget forays. For that reason I have added an 8th star to the rating - indies have a lot to overcome, and good solid efforts like this deserve a 'little extra push' I enjoy movies that offer something different than the norm, that surprise and delight, that give you unexpected deviations from where you 'think' it's going. This one gave me those little surprise twists numerous times throughout it's run. Filmed with a small budget and cast, this is one of those films that makes up for that using imagination and planning. I rank this high up with another couple of great indy efforts, Coherence (2013), and I Origins (2014). If time is a factor for you, and you aren't impressed with the first 10-15 minutes, then maybe this isn't your type of movie. But if you want to see a film with really solid and professional writing, acting, and direction, then by all means give this one a watch. I'm going to look up what else the writer/director has done, and hope for more like this.

If you lost everything, would you loose faith!

Writer/ Director Kosta Nikas Sacred Heart, out from Gravitas Ventures. Is a man journey away from God. A once god following mans faith is torn when his wife and unborn child are mowed down by a hit and run driver. Bent on revenge he searches and locates the killer. But before he can get his revenge he is visited by the priest from his church. Spiraling out of control through booze and drugs everything is revealed about him and the priest through a very intense confrontation. All there hidden secrets and desires are revealed and what comes out will Shock the viewers. Now the priests beliefs and the grieving husband are equally torn and gods Presence is moving further from there hearts. This movie is not preachy but cleverly told through a man who questions gods existence and why he would choose to take away his wife and kid. The performances between these two actors is so brilliant you will be fixated to see what is revealed next. The priest played by David Field and the grieving husband Robert by Kipan Rothbury are brilliant under the careful direction of Kosta Nikas. I usually shy away from religious theme movies, but this is a strong movie that is very realistic and needs to be seen. The mo is does weaken but only grows stronger in the final act. There is redemption but not true Hollywood happy ending, but a bold approach to a terrible situation. It will question your belief this movie and have you talking about if for days! Starring: David Field, Kipan Rothbury, Barbara Gouskos, Panda Likoudus, Will Gabriel, Deborah Jones, Shaun Mckean and Lizzie Schebesta (Sleeping Beauty) star in a Kosta Nikas film.

"A hard-hitting journey of revenge and redemption"**, Sacred Heart is available on VOD/DVD and BluRay from Gravitas Ventures from 8/14.
