Sad Finale
Hitchcoc7 November 2021
The writers decided that all the characters needed to test the waters of relationships. So we have Howard and Bernadette dealing with Stuart, Penny and Leonard heading to Las Vegas, Sheldon and Amy in huge conflict. Raj is in a graveyard, having a picnic with his creepy girlfriend. The problem is that it's all really harsh and sterile. I won't go into details but there is something really sad and empty here.

Finally...A truly great episode in season 8 Warning: Spoilers
I've commented here and on other online forums that TBBT has "jumped the shark" in season 8, but it turns out it was more like a slow Christmas season. It started out with a bunch of slow boring episodes one had to stretch to get even a chuckle. But the season finale with it's potential for season 9 to have a Shamy engagement along with Penny and Leonard finally tying the knot left even critics and cynics like myself waiting for season 9. I still maintain my position that from a quality standpoint the show has jumped the shark if the one LOL episode is the season finale. Plus I wonder now that Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and Jim Parsons getting so many other projects how much longer they're willing to stay in their roles as Penny and Sheldon respectively?

Another Excellent Addition
PartialMovieViewer8 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Always the brilliant show and never afraid to test the waters. This season-closer is no different – and I sense (once again) all is not what it seems. From the first time I watched this program I was hooked and became an instant, dedicated "Big Bang" fan. I don't know who is doing the behind-the-scenes-strategerizing…but they are doing an awesome job. Not afraid to test the waters with new characters, the show's puppet masters are always teasing the audience with unique situations and people. The production team bates the hook with 'that new character' and then they tug the line a tad, waiting for a response. If the newbie generates a sluggish response…the studio tosses the 'unsuitables' back – now if the new addition stimulates an audience-feeding frenzy – the initiate is 'golden' and added. The cast grows in depth while their comedic strengths continue to blossom (with Blossom). And talk about a funny and friendly group. The trailblazers (Leonard, Sheldon, Raj, Howard and (of course – big 'sister') Penny) are such a solid foundation. Some new characters have come and gone but the valuable ones have stayed and I – for one – am very pleased. Those latecomers have been spectacularly weeded from the loser-herd and are now just too important to release. Malissa 'Squeaky Voice' Rauch – outstanding; Mayim 'Sheldon's Girl' Bialik – perfect, and Kevin 'Too Nice for Vice' Sussman – just too important – have their own individual niches-of-importance. Normally I don't like cliff-hangers, but I am definitely looking forward to next season. To jump on the assumption that, 'the ring' is actually an engagement ring...especially coming from Sheldon...might be a mistake. I hope it is not, but if it is...keep up with the brilliant writing. Like I said – all is not what it seems.

Now if I am completely wrong about the stupid ring - I will quickly eat crow and agree with those who see some sick-serious twist. I hope 'Big Bang' remains funny, serious turns have a historical habit of tanking good comedy. An example of comedy-destruction would be the old TV show M.A.S.H. Once Alan Alda demanded and was awarded more control over the program, it turned into potty-water. This move did succeed in three things though. It built up Al's already huge ego; lots of actors lost their jobs prematurely and insulted his audience. I guess it is all in how one measures success.

Season 8 Review
IPyaarCinema18 August 2022
Though it's not up to the same standards as some of the previous seasons, The Big Bang Theory continues to maintain decent storylines with relatable and lovable characters, even if the jokes do begin to get repetitive.

The epitome of what is wrong with this show lately
jbuzzard-116 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The first half of this episode was funny, then they ruin it with the argument between Penny and Leonard after Leonard's confession of something that happened a while ago. That seemed to be the pattern this season - humorous then ending on something 'touching'. Then the out-of-the-blue revelation/cliffhanger of Sheldon having a ring for Amy, presumably to propose. If I want that, I'll watch soap operas. What's next, one of them will have a baby? Don't get me wrong, I think the addition of the Bernadette and Amy is great. They both add something to the show, but what made this show unique is the geek aspect. Bring back the geeks!

it's sad but think i'm done with the show
RoccoRossFox8 May 2015
I'm sorry but this episode doesn't feel as a finale. The story feels so rushed/not in place and on the end they tried to go for that OMG moment but sadly that didn't work at all for me. Not saying more about that to spare people from spoilers. Ever sinds they ended up in a relation the show felt going down for me and season 8 really hit a new low on that point. The actors do great work (Jim Parson for sure) but the story and mainly the jokes letting down. Didn't have many Laugh out Loud moments this season. Those rare moments came either from Jim Parson or Kevin Sussman (Stuart, who is a blessing for this season). Overall the entire season gets a small 7, 6 for this episode...

(yes i know they had to evolve and give them partners but that doesn't mean the bromances had to go or the funny parts getting so rare)

You call this a finale???
peterhill-849008 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a big TBBT fan, I love the show and always will (hopefully). From what I can recall, each finale has been interesting and exciting but seriously, nothing much happens in this lackluster of an episode.

If Penny or Emily had revealed to be pregnant than that would have definitely interested me, in fact I don't really care what had happened so long as it was different to Sheldon revealing that he'd been preparing to propose to Amy. Is weddings all that the creators can think up for these couples to go through? First Howard and Bernadette, then Penny and Leonard and now Sheldon and Amy.

I wasn't too surprised Amy had broken up with Sheldon but now that he revealed a ring, it's painfully obvious they'll get back together. So pray tell me what was the point in her breaking up?

Leonard once again continues to be whiny and clingy and causes drama so no surprise there.

Howard continues to be someone who needs Bernadette to do all the tough things like kick Stewart out of the house but fail, so I fail to see why we needed to see any of that.

Raj gets little screen time with Emily and even then she's at risk (after 1 season) of being dumped and never seen on the show again - despite being the most unique and interesting woman on the show.

I'd like to finish up by saying that I will be looking forward to season 9 but this was just a disappointing finale.

Big Bang Theory was about comedy not tragedy
sanchitdomun10 May 2015
This show was all about science, nerds, comedy, awkward situations and fun but season 8 has been overall a

bore and the finale hasn't got any better rather its crappier than the whole season. I guess our expectations were higher because of the previous seasons, but overall the final episode was crap with no story,it felt as if the writers are experimenting. Any ways The Big Bang Theory is about science and comedy,so maybe they should focus on that rather than changing the crux. Btw Penny's haircut sucks big time. Hope the writers do better in the next season coz the show used to be awsum ..:(...

BIG pop! Reality
sinamax201030 August 2015
OK, one of TV's funniest shows for the past 6 seasons. But really, the show is a rehash of every possible scenario possible. I'm not liking the new relationships and the overall feel of the all the characters. Like most people, I have watched the show up until season 7 started. I just couldn't take any more of the lame jokes and the character references. Maybe, its time to put this one to bed. Like "Friends" and "How I met your mother", those shows lost their gleam after 7 seasons. So I say, shoot it and get on with something else. But just remember the rule of "7", and you'll be fine. Penny has gotten older, and she looks like she's married. A little tired looking. Shelton, still looks about the same, but older. Raj, still looks the same, only a little more chubby. All of the characters have put on the feed bag and it shows. I guess that comes with fame and fortune. Let's face the the "BANG" has gone out of the show. Maybe, the fault of the producers who just keep banging out shows to satisfy contracts with the Networks, but it's really starting to show in the quality of the stories and characters.

A jumped shark.
np-lsinterlaw28 May 2015
I am (was) a really big fan of this show. watched season 1 to 4 already like 6-7 times.

I just have one thing to say.

This show hasn't just jumped the shark. The shark that this show jumped... has been jumped by another shark...a big fat, ugly, boring shark.

We had some really good times with this show... but lets face it, that' s all in the past now... the distant past.

Its a pity that the producers/ creators stop caring when they started making easy money out this show.

Oh well. We ll live with out it.

Hard to understand
bvkleeck17 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
While it starts with Sheldon and his commitment issues to Amy (4 years and no commitment), it (by Sheldon's doing) becomes about Penny and Leonard's relationship. I find it both mind boggling and quite irritating that Leonard and Penny do not turn it back at Sheldon and keep reminding (pushing) at him why he has not in 4 years advanced his relationship with Amy. I admit the Sheldon character is an irritating jackass at times, but did the writers actually think it was the thing to do to let him push the marriage? I do not like many of the episodes because of the Sheldon character's crap, some of it is OK but overall he is the worst character on the show.

This episode demonstrates how repetitive this show is.
gabriel-170821 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Leonard and Penny always arguing about the relationship and apologizing to each other. Not so funny jokes and people still laughing in the fake audience. Sheldon proves to be idiot beyond my understanding. He seems to be stupider than all human beings stupidest together (adding only the stupidity, of course). This is all very tiring.
