My Review Of "OMG! We're In A Horror Movie"
ASouthernHorrorFan31 March 2016
The story Bandele gives us is a great conceptual romp with some awesome potential. Unfortunately the originality and creativity gets lost among overused and played out situations and gimmicks. Most of what "OMG! We're In A Horror Movie" offers can be seen in other horror comedies with better results. This film misses on the funny on many levels. Don't get me wrong, the movie has some softer moments of entertainment and genuinely funny moments, just not enough to sustain the entire film.

The acting and cinematography are great. The cast are committed to the characters, and some cast give quick, witty performances of a well-written script. Most of what fails "OMG! We're In A Horror Movie" is that pesky lack of originality and loss of humor due to poor comedic timing. Ajala Bandele does hit the mark on some of his direction he takes with the film, the atmosphere and quick report between the characters keep the scenes moving nicely.

Overall "OMG! We're In A Horror Movie" fails simply due to a lack of creative and original story design. Mostly missed opportunity with more developed kill scenes, and spoofier dramatics that could have been amped up a bit more. The musical score was a bright spot, so was the actual characters themselves. But the slasher Comedy has been done over and over and better. Watch with an understanding that there isn't a lot happening in "OMG! We're In A Horror Movie" that is entertaining.

Potential
samtko-0467513 March 2017
This movie had so much potential to be funny, but it squandered it, the title was amazing, the acting was half-way decent and the special effects were bad but in a good way, but none of the jokes were funny and often fell flat, the situations they were put in weren't very funny either, this movie might be enjoyable if you're high but other than that it's not worth your time

Enjoyably dumb labor of love

I know nothing about the people who made this movie but they strike me as a bunch of nerdy friends who:

* Are so comfortable with each other that they are able to make uncomfortable/puerile jokes targeting each other on film.

* Wanted to make a movie that showcases their geekdoms (board games, horror tropes).

That's all a guess on my part though.

Anyway, this isn't a high production value thriller but if you have ever been in a long-running tabletop role playing or board gaming group, this is the movie you might have made with your friends (assuming that your group was sufficiently nerdy, diverse, and potty-humored).

Movie is fine.

Witty and Fun, you wont be disappointed

If you're a fan of the horror genre you will definitely get a kick out of this movie. The script is tight and the laughs keep coming. I've seen it 3 times now and still catch new jokes I missed the previous times. If you enjoy quirky satires of your favorite movies and want proof that there are fun movies being made with shoestring budgets... then this movie has all you need! I'm excited to see what this cast does next. Give It A Watch! I have to write 10 lines to make a review post-able and honestly can't do that without giving something away. Go watch this film. Rent it! Give them your money so they can make something else. Too few original projects are being made. This movie may parody others but its an original work made to entertain.

Fun time, engaging cast

Warning: Spoilers
This is a fun horror/comedy. Like many such films, it makes fun of horror movie tropes. Fortunately, it does so in a meta way, which adds an extra dimension. The cast is wonderful. They mix straightforward character work in the early scenes with more over the top behavior once they are actually in the horror movie. I am very glad I found this on Tubi and gave it a shot. I am going to seek out more work by folks in this film.

The real horror are the left down stereotypes. On what to rely now?

If You think horror movies are the dumbest possible genre besides porn, than this flick is for you. This cheap project makes fun of the genre in the most intelligent way I have seen by now. Mostly all typical elements of horror, splatter, vampire and zombie trash are in it. There are a ton of references to those types of movies which you will not get, because you did not see them. But there are also references for nerds and Star Trek fans. One chick will dress in a red Star Fleet uniform. Guess who will die first! On the other side, Star Trek commanders put up a hell of a fight! And if your ex-girlfriend is border-liner, she is also not to be underestimated. So, which cliché beats what stereotype? Do black people survive in a mixed group, out there in the lonely cottage? Ever? And when the producers are both black? Now You are not so certain any more! And You will not be until the last scene. But You will be entertained. If You are a horror movie fan, this flicker is poison for your mood.
