Like many artists before her, Miley Cyrus is going acoustic for "MTV Unplugged."
The music special will air Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 9 p.m. and promises to show "a more intimate side of Cyrus," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Guests from various moments in Cyrus' career are also expected to drop in throughout the show.
Although Cyrus hasn't done "Unplugged" before, this will not be the singer's first MTV special. In October 2013, the music network aired "Miley: The Movement."
"Miley's vision for the performance is like nothing we've ever seen. I can say that this will easily be one of the most memorable 'Unplugged' performances to date," MTV's executive vice-president for music and talent programming strategy, Amy Doyle, said in a statement.
"Unplugged" has been an MTV staple since its debut in 1989, featuring artists from Nirvana to Bob Dylan to Adele over the years.

Happy birthday Miley! The singer turned 21 on Nov. 23, so what better way to celebrate the big day than to take over MTV, the network where she’s made a home, with a countdown of her top moments!?
MTV used to have My Super Sweet Sixteen, but apparently now they’re just handing over the keys to the network for stars’ big birthdays. Or maybe they just made an exception for Miley Cyrus, who took over the network on her 21st birthday on Nov. 23.

Miley Cyrus’ wrecking ball has been doing a lot of swinging around MTV lately.
First there was that little performance at the VMAs in August that sparked some controversy among fans and teddy bears alike. Then in October, Cyrus went back to MTV in Miley: The Movement, a documentary special about her life leading up to the twerk seen round the world. Oh yeah, then she smoked pot on stage at the MTV Ema Awards in Amsterdam, natch. Now it appears MTV can’t and won’t stop its affixation with the tween star-turned-superstar.

It seems that everyone -- from Paris Hilton to Kelly Ripa -- dressed up as Miley Cyrus for Halloween, and the singer couldn't be more flattered! So which celebrity's costume did she like the best?"I think Harry [Styles] might have been one of my favorites. Those shorts were very revealing," she joked while promoting her new tour on "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" Wednesday morning. She even wanted to loan the One Direction singer her foam finger from the MTV VMAs, but he was overseas in Tokyo. Even that accessory has gotten lots of attention."The guy who invented the foam finger was mad," Miley said. "I think he felt like I disrespected his creation, but he should be happy because he probably sold more foam fingers!"The 20-year-old singer says she's put the now infamous performance behind her. "I don't want to keep living off the VMAs," she exclaimed.

MTV is releasing a full season of a new series about a luckless high school football team on its mobile application Friday, a week before the first episode is shown on television.
It appears to be a new milestone in the fast-moving world of technology changing traditional television content, much like when Netflix made an entire season of House of Cards available at once through the streaming service. MTV made its free app available on iPhones, iPads, iPods and the Xbox 360 in June, and nearly 2 million have been downloaded.

Miley will be taking the stage at the American Music Awards on Nov. 24 and everyone’s assuming she’s going to twerk it up! However, HollywoodLife.com has exclusively learned that she’s got a different plan for the big performance.
For Miley Cyrus, shock value is everything. After her epic twerking at the MTV Video Music Awards, followed by a risqué performance on the Today show, everyone is anxious to see what she does when she takes the stage at L.A. Live’s Nokia Theater for the AMAs.
Miley Cyrus’ Ama Plan Revealed
“Miley’s being very secretive about her plan for the music awards, she wants it to be a huge surprise,” a source close to the “Wrecking Ball” singer told HollywoodLife.com.

The Season 3 premiere of "Scandal" scored the show's best Nielsen ratings ever, and it also scored big in a new metric: Twitter TV Ratings.
According to the data collected by Nielsen and SocialGuide, more people saw tweets about "Scandal" than any other show on TV for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6. The new rankings, which launched Monday (Oct. 7) measure both the number of tweets written about a given show and the total number of Twitter users who saw those tweets.
The ranking doesn't just add up the number of followers who saw tweets about a show. It instead "de-duplicates" the number of Twitter users so that "a Twitter account will be counted only once for a given reported episode regardless of how many impressions the account accrued for that episode." Meaning that if you follow the entire tweet-happy cast of "Scandal," you aren't counted more than once for seeing all...

Updated: Scandal’s third-season debut topped Nielsen’s first weekly Twitter TV ratings, bagging about 713,000 tweets reaching a Twitter audience of 3.7 million. (On TV, the third season debut of ABC’s Washington soap clocked an average of 10.5 million viewers.) Miley Cyrus came in second and third in Nielsen’s Twitter ratings report. At No. 2, her MTV documentary, Miley: The Movement ginned up 142,000 tweets, reaching about 3.2 million on Twitter. That was followed by Saturday Night Live, on which Cyrus played host and music act, which generated nearly 176,000 tweets reaching 3.146 million people on Twitter. These numbers come the same day Twitter officially unveiled the ratings measure, which considers the number of people who read TV-related tweets, not just the number of writers. Miley Cyrus' MTV documentary got the "deluxe" treatment on Sunday, featuring a bonus 30 minutes of footage not previously included in Wednesday's original broadcast. Miley: The Movement Deluxe documents the "Wrecking Ball" singer's "movement," not "transition," from family-friendly tween to twerking 20-year-old. The special features interviews with Pharrell, momager Tish Cyrus and Cyrus herself (dad Billy Ray Cyrus is nowhere to be seen, aside from photos of the singer's younger days), set alongside behind-the-scenes footage of Cyrus rehearsing, traveling and recording. Apparently Miley and Liam’s September split was a long time coming. Liam wanted out of the relationship way before then, but Miley tried to ‘trap and guilt’ him into staying with her, according to a new report.
Miley Cyrus, 20, may have given her ex-fiancee, Liam Hemsworth, 23, his big break in their 2012 movie The Last Song – but she never let him forget it. Miley constantly reminded Liam that she was the one who “helped make him a star” and she reportedly even used the movie — executive produced by her mom, Tish Cyrus – to keep him by her side, a new report claims. Read on for all the details.

Miley was Liam’s first love, so it’s no wonder it was so hard for him to let go of their relationship, even after it was no longer working.

The government shutdown is Not projected to affect Goobers sales. Thank god. Head to an institution you can count on—the movie theater̵and catch a flick. Here's what's happening this weekend:
On the Big Screen: "Gravity"
Gravity, the sexiest of all of Newton's laws, has always been a mainstay in entertainment. There was the song by John Mayer, and later a jingle of the same name by Sara Bareilles. Also, the witches in the musical "Wicked" defied gravity, as did Bieber's hair for most of 2012. Well, this weekend Sandra Bullock (Ryan Stone) and George Clooney (Matt Kowalski) get a massive dose of weightlessness when their characters get lost in space in Alfonso Cuarón's new film "Gravity." The movie will take you for a ride, it'll revive your love for oxygen, and it'll have you wondering if the characters are wearing adult diapers under their space suits.

It's a big week for Miley Cyrus. Her documentary, "Miley: The Movement" premiered on MTV and she's set to both host and serve as musical guest for "Saturday Night Live." In an effort to pile on, photographer Terry Richardson has released even more pictures of Miley, in which she's topless, among other things.
In the photos Miley loses her shirt, wears a thong, gives herself a front wedgie and even strikes some interesting and creepy poses with a can of Arizona Iced Tea. Beyond that, there's also pictures of her smoking what looks like a joint and a blunt simultaneously and eating an ice cream cone. Oh, that Miley.
The photos, which were posted on Richardson's blog, are another step in Miley's journey to completely change her image. She's been trying to shed the "Hannah Montana" phase of her career and seems to be well beyond it at this point.

New York, Oct er 4: Miley Cyrus has admitted that she wanted to perform topless at the MTV's Video Music Awards.

Just when it seemed she couldn’t get any more explicit, Miley Cyrus posed for a borderline-pornographic photo shoot with Terry Richardson.
In the shots, the former “Disney” darling leaves little to the imagination, barely covering her lady parts in a series of topless pics, and letting it all hang out in a see-through shirt.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Kimmel weighed in on the new “Miley: The Movement” documentary on MTV while also playing “the Ken Burns version” during “ Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Of course, the parody clip dramatizes Cyrus’ role in bringing ‘twerking’ into the mainstream and even includes footage of her smacking a little person’s behind during a concert.

Miley Cyrus' outrageous on-stage performance wasn't her only crazy moment from the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.Chaos ensued even Before she arrived at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, as documented in the MTV special "Miley: The Movement."Miley's arrival was to unfold like this: transfer from an SUV to a police car, and then ride in the police car to the red carpet. Apparently, the police car was part of some grand entrance. When Miley's driver missed the police car and pulled up right to the arrivals line, the plan unraveled, and an upset Miley unleashed a flurry of f-bombs. Watch: You can bet that woman who opened the car door won't be working a carpet again!Miley managed to brush off the drama and emerge for her fans, tongue wagging. If there's one thing viewers learned from "Miley: The Movement," it's that Miley is a perfectionist.

She’s just being Miley! When it comes to her exhibitionist ways the songstress proves she can’t stop, and won’t stop pushing the envelope — and that’s exactly what she did in this risqué new shoot. In some pics she’s topless and in others she’s exposing much, much more.

Britney Spears stopped by the recording studio to sing and dish with Miley Cyrus for Miley's documentary "The Movement," which aired Wednesday (Oct. 2) on MTV. Naturally, the two talked about the MTV Video Music Awards -- at the point when this documentary was filmed, Miley had yet to perform her eye-popping spectacle with Robin Thicke.
"The VMAs are always, like, the best. It's so far. Working with Madonna -- it's like, it's Madonna. It's crazy," says Britney.
"For me, that's why I got into music. I want to give people that again. Videos that are out of control, that people can't believe. And performances that you can't believe," says Cyrus. "Everyone takes the VMAs so serious and I just wanna come out and, like, shoot a hotdog gun."
Then there is this exchange:
Britney: "You're not gonna be topless on stage?...

MTV documentaries like Miley: The Movement are so carefully produced and vetted that — unless you get a meltdown moment, like Miley's brief pre-VMAs screaming fit — it is hard to get any sense of how real the footage is. Your best bet for perspective is by celebrity comparison, like using another famous person for scale, and so in some ways, the brief Britney Spears scene is the most illuminating of the hour. From Britney Spears herself, we learn nothing new; she is still perfectly polite and mostly unengaged (though it's worth noting that, even in the good days, Britney interviews were not megaenergetic). Next to Britney, Miley looks like a Pokemon after a candy binge — translation: hyper, with unusual hair — but she is excited about her work, and she has insights, and she's clearly very happy to be there. Her enthusiasm is kind of refreshing. If Britney is...

Miley Cyrus' plan worked."If you're gonna make people talk, you want to make people talk for two weeks, not two seconds" the pop star said of her now infamous performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. Well, going on five weeks later, the media -- including toofab -- is still talking about her.A documentary called "Miley: The Movement" aired Wednesday night on MTV (naturally). Touted as Miley's first post-vma interview, the special followed the pop star as she prepared for the VMAs.And as we all as suspected, her outrageous onstage behavior was all devised to "make history" (her own words) and of course, make headlines. Here's how Miley reacted to all the attention: "We've been laughing about all the news because everyone else is so serious," Miley explained. "While you guys are worked up and frazzled, I'm chilling. I'm onto the next one, I forgot about the performance.

Miley Cyrus had even bigger plans for her now infamous MTV Video Music Awards performance. As the "We Can't Stop" singer revealed in her Oct. 2 MTV special, Miley: The Movement, she had hoped to push the envelope by appearing partially nude during the Aug. 25 telecast. "You're not going to be topless on stage are you?" asked Britney Spears, who collaborated with Cyrus on the song "SMS (Bangerz)." The 20-year-old replied, "I tried, but I don't think MTV's going to allow it." "Everyone takes the VMAs so seriously, but I just wanna come out and like shoot a hot dog gun," the platinum-haired pop star added. Cyrus' performance with Robin Thicke was...

Stop me if you've heard this one: Miley Cyrus is all grown up. At this point, starting an article about the pop star with that line is more than a bit trite, but with the premiere of her MTV documentary "Miley: The Movement" on Wednesday (Oct. 2), it can't be denied that that's the message Cyrus is desperate to get across.
Well, half the message.
The full thesis? Miley Cyrus is all grown up, and she doesn't really care what you think. In the hour-long special, which took a look at Cyrus's work on her upcoming album "Bangerz," leading up to her legendary (or infamous, depending on who you ask) performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs.
Off the bat, Cyrus makes clear: "I don't apologize for anything. I'm always gonna do something different. I think if people could see the details, they'd know this wasn't just some big mess." This is the...

It's Miley's movement, and we're all just watching it on TV. Or, so MTV's documentary special, Miley: The Movement, would like to you believe. The hour-long special chronicled the recording of Bangerz (which involved Miley sitting in a recording studio chatting with – mostly at – a quietly agreeable Britney Spears), all the way up to the planning and performing of her infamous VMAs performance ("You can watch the VMAs performance and think it was a hot mess, but it was a strategic hot mess"). What did we learn? Well, Miley stands behind her message – sorry, movement ("For me the movement needs to be bigger than just the record"), and makes some good points about growing up in the public eye. Just be thankful no one's comparing your childhood photos to whatever you happen to be doing now (twerking or not!)On growing up: "I thought I was gonna come...

Miley Cyrus doesn't spend all her hours twerking.
