Shondaland is moving to a new address — and its mayor is looking forward to the change in scenery.
“I’m really excited about the future on Netflix,” Shonda Rhimes said — in some of her first public comments since leaving ABC in August for a multi-year deal with the streaming giant — during a “TV Game Changers” panel hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. “There’s nothing wrong with having spent so many years telling network television,” the Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal veteran emphasized, but “the constraints of network television tell you what kinds of stories you can tell. Period.

I remember once reading about a conversation Orson Welles had with PeterBogdanovich about the fact that screen legend Greta Garbo only made tworeally good pictures out of 40.Orson's response was, "Well, you only need one."
Well, Tobe Hooper definitely had "the one." Sure, he made several pictureshorror fans remember fondly such as Poltergeist, The Funhouse and Salem'sLot. But “the one” he will be forever remembered for is The TexasChain Saw Massacre.Game changers arrive on the scene without warning – and in the early Seventies, this movie exploded on screen.

With a seemingly endless amount of streaming options — not only the titles at our disposal, but services themselves — we’ve taken it upon ourselves to highlight the titles that have recently hit platforms. Every week, one will be able to see the cream of the crop (or perhaps some simply interesting picks) of streaming titles (new and old) across platforms such as Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, and more (note: U.S. only). Check out our rundown for this week’s selections below.
20th Century Women (Mike Mills)
That emotional profundity most directors try to build to across an entire film? Mike Mills achieves it in every scene of 20th Century Women. There’s such a debilitating warmness to both the vibrant aesthetic and construction of its dynamic characters as Mills quickly soothes one into his story that you’re all the more caught off-guard as the flurry of emotional wallops are presented.

Can a film about twenty-eight year olds be considered a coming-of-age story? I guess it can when the two men in question were teenage professional gamers because that’s exactly what Robert Imbs‘ Game Changers is. And if we really thought about it, that age is a pretty critical crossroads in a person’s life regardless of the path they’ve taken to get there. Thirty is kind of an unspoken cut off point where maturity is either embraced or ignored forever. That’s a gross generalization considering the life of a pro gamer is just as legitimate as that of a doctor or lawyer when it comes to dedication and skill within the vocation—laugh if you will, but I do believe this even if gaming is far from as important—but you get the idea.

In this third part of the series about the production of the low-budget indie movie Game Changers, filmmakers Rob Imbs (director) and Benjamin Eckstein (cinematographer) discuss shooting with the Sony Pmw-F3, shooting in S-Log, lighting issues, and the lenses used to shoot the movie.
Filmmaker: Ben, you already owned the Sony Pmw-F3, was the decision simply to use the camera you had?
Eckstein: I’ve been fortunate that I own almost all the gear that I use on a day-to-day basis. From the beginning when talking to Rob, it was not really a discussion of “Are you trying to get the Alexa or whatever?” I think if I still owned the Panasonic Ag-AF100 we probably would have shot it on that, and that would have been fine, but now I have a different camera, so that’s what we use.
We rented a couple of things, but for the most...

Filmmakers Rob Imbs (director) and Benjamin Eckstein (cinematographer) are currently shooting a low-budget independent feature film, Game Changers, a drama/comedy about two video-gamers who are approaching their late twenties. With an initial target budget of $30,000, Game Changers might be better described as a shoestring budget feature, given that they began shooting with only half that amount raised. Though this is their first film together, Imbs has previously made a feature-length video, Eckstein has extensive shooting experience in corporate video and documentaries, and Imbs is an experienced editor who will be doing most of the editing.
Imbs, who is based in Buffalo NY, met Eckstein, who is based in Boston, via Twitter. Their first project together wasn’t a film, but a fund-raiser poker game called “All In Film” held at Nab in 2010.

Game Changers is an indie film currently being shot in Buffalo, New York. In this second part of the interview with filmmakers Rob Imbs (director) and Benjamin Eckstein (cinematographer), they discuss funding a low-budget movie, how the budget effects the production, as well as casting and location scouting.
Filmmaker: So you had a script, but then you had to fund the movie. How did you go about doing that?
Imbs: Funding was always an Indiegogo thing. Just as I fell in love with Twitter, I also fell in love with the idea of Indiegogo. I really believe in supporting artists, I still buy CDs.
There’s a bunch of films on Kickstarter/Indiegogo that I think “This project is amazing, I want to give these people money.” So I would always do that, and I saw people who were very successful and I thought, “Wait a minute, I’ve made movies for $5,000. Heck,...
