Netflix is getting into the "Pokémon" business in a pretty interesting way. The streaming service has debuted the first trailer for a brand new series entitled "Pokémon Concierge" which marks not only the first collaboration between Netflix and The Pokémon Company, but it's also the first stop-motion animated series in the history of the franchise. See what that looks like for yourself in the trailer above.
The trailer is, in a word, adorable. There is absolutely a version of the Pokémon universe that is a little gritty and horrifying. After all, many of these are very dangerous animals. This is the polar opposite of that version, with all of the many familiar creatures just trying to relax and looking rather cuddly. Surprisingly, we've never seen the series take the stop-motion approach before having now seen it, as it looks very natural. The brief logline for the series reads as follows:...

“Pokémon Concierge,” an unusual, animated miniseries, will launch on Netflix at the end of December.
The first collaboration between the global streamer and Japanese firm The Pokémon Company, the show involves hand-drawn animation with four episodes of 14-20 minutes each.
Fans can get a glimpse of the new show through a trailer that releases on Wednesday in Japan and on Tuesday in North America. The show uploads globally on Dec. 28.
“When Pokémon need a break, they head to a peaceful resort to relax, looked after by a team of Pokémon concierges,” says a logline provided by Netflix. The story follows newcomer Haru as she learns how to take care of Pokémon guests that include Pikachu, Eevee, Dragonite and Magikarp. And as Haru figures out how to make her guests happy, she ends up discovering a new side to herself.
The show is directed by Ogawa Iku from a screenplay by Doki Harumi,...

Bandai Namco-owned Japanese animation series “Tiger & Bunny” has been optioned for adaptation as an English-language, live-action production for the third time.
Independent U.S. production entity Sk Global announced that it will develop the property as a series in partnership with Bandai Namco Pictures and with M. Raven Metzner adapting and show-running.
The “Tiger & Bunny” franchise features heroic crime fighters operating in Stern Bild, a fictionalized, near future version of New York City. The franchise was launched in 2011 as both a manga and anime series that played on late night TV in Japan. It quickly gave rise to two feature movies and a stage play in 2012.
Sk Global describes the property as “a heartfelt comedy-drama set in a futuristic city where large corporations sponsor professional superheroes, whose own valiant exploits are then broadcast on a popular reality television show, the story centers on old school veteran hero Tiger,...

“Ozark” fans, rejoice. The Jason Bateman and Julia Garner-starring drama series is returning to Netflix in April with a second part to its fourth season — and it’s just one of many other hotly anticipated titles coming to the streamer this month.
April will also see the long-awaited sophomore installment to “Russian Doll,” the mind-bending “Groundhog Day”-esque dramedy series starring Natasha Lyonne as a hard-partying New York City woman stuck in a brain-melting circuitous loop from hell.
For fans of capital-m mess, there’s the Spanish-language “Elite,” which traces the scandalous (and often murderous) exploits of the posh attendees of high school Las Encinas. Or, if you prefer your glamorous mess via reality series, “Selling Sunset” — about the lux real estate market in Los Angeles — is premiering its fifth season April 22.
In notable films, there’s the Judd Apatow-helmed “The Bubble,” a spoof loosely inspired by the...

A list of new streaming releases on Netflix, what a concept!
Netflix’s list of new releases for April 2022 is highlighted by the return of one of the great sci-fi comedies ever. Natasha Lyonne is set to return as the temporally displaced Nadia on Russian Doll season 2 on April 20. The first season of the show premiered in 2019 and appeared to tell a rather complete story about one Brooklyn woman’s experiences of dying over and over again. But Lyonne and fellow producers Leslye Headland and Amy Poehler still have some story to tell. Netflix is undoubtedly very happy to let them continue to tell it.

Another major series of note this month is the final batch of episodes for Ozark.

In 2015, All Nippon Entertainment Works, a company that connects Japanese intellectual property owners to Hollywood producers, announced the production of a live-action adaptation of the anime series “Tiger & Bunny.” That film was never made although it was announced May 8 that Global Road, Bandai Namco Pictures, Imagine Entertainment and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman’s Weed Road Pictures are partnering to make a live-action movie of the property. But despite that fact, none of the half-dozen films under Anew were completed prior to its sale last year at a tremendous loss.
Anew was once was a key component in the trade ministry’s Cool Japan initiative, which aims to promote the nation’s creative and cultural products and services around the world.
However, the loss raises questions about its management.
“Anew is like institutional corruption,” says film producer Hiro Masuda, who has done significant research into Anew and its former owner, the Innovation Network Corp.
