A woman is found dead rolled in a canvas and the CSI team investigates the case. The woman has several hypodermic needles and a barbecue skewer inserted in her arms and the investigator believe she was tortured with lots of pain and minimum bleeding. The implant in her knee provides her identification, Rachel Grier. Catherine interviews her estranged sister Dr. Jennifer Grier, but her niece Silvia tells her that she had lunch three days ago with Rachel at the Tangiers, and she wanted to return home. Hodges finds that the canvas had an old painting below and Nick finds a woman that looks like a candelabrum below. Morgan researches the Internet and finds Major Willie's sideshow in Las Vegas presenting the "Magnificent Femmistopheles: Empress of Pain," aka "The Human Candelabra". He identifies Rachel and Nick and Russell process her tent trying to find what happened to her.
"Freaks & Geeks" is a bizarre episode of "CSI", showing the weird and dramatic world of the sideshows. The ringmaster Major Willie, who is like a father to the performers, becomes the prime suspect and is accidentally murdered. The CSI investigation destroys the lives of the performers, but Rachel's killer has no connection with the sideshow in the end. "Freaks & Geeks" indeed is a very sad episode "CSI". My vote is seven.
