Still a great show, but...
jdgxiv-137-66935828 August 2021
The little girl character is just too much. The show already had one 100% flawless new character that knows absolutely everything and is completely perfect all the time (the psychologist). One of those characters is enough.

But now a 12 year old girl is the most emotionally intelligent and sophisticated person in the room? Come on. Very lazy writing. Not interesting or funny. A child occasionally being like that is fine, but every interaction with her is just way too flattering. It's like she's an exceptional and really intelligent 30-year-old who also has good luck.

Luckily the show still has a lot of good things going for it and will be hard to wreck. Casting is great for all the characters. Ted of course is the best character.

The sub-plot in this episode abut the oil company and Nigeria was great, although entirely unrealistic (we can dream). In our awful real world the soccer player would have been silenced or let go in a heartbeat I'm sure, but it's nice to see. And btw it's China that's exploiting Africa now. They dominate that entire continent.

And it's nice to see Jamie back. Hmm, but will he be as fun of a character now that he's not such a bad boy?

Great episode. Silly in reality
zachcreaghcoen6 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love this as an episode of television but there are two things that bother me.

1. They say they are paying prem players with championship money. That's not true when a club gets relegated from the prem they receive "parachute" payments from the premier league to make sure the club doesn't run over budget with the significant loss in income. Just a modicum of research would show you this.

2. You can not treat a sponsor as they do in the episode. I understand taking a stand and that's fine. Players do that (Griezmann for example) but the whole squad doing that without consoling the manager or owner is not only Stupid but selfish. People often forget the plethora of support staff that work at football clubs. (Medics, kit staff, office workers) if you lose your main sponsor it's not the players, manager or owner who gets hit. It's all the support staff who are non-essential. Many will get sacked to compensate for the lack of funds. In reality a non essential player like same would most likely be released after the initial refusal. And would 100% be released after the antics at the match. Also a stunt like that would most likely put off and future sponsors as they wouldn't want to risk the bad press.

Loved it

Warning: Spoilers
Great to see Sam develop as a character, doing something he thought would make his father proud without realising the consequences back home. Then, faced with a challenging decision, opts to do the right thing with the backing of his team - demonstrating the new confidence he has as a player and a person under the Lasso way. Outstanding.

Why folk are complaining about politics coming in to a show like this, or the virtue signalling, or the leftist tack is beyond me. Clearly they are blissfully unaware that capitalism and politics touch everything we do and we experience, and having a show that doesn't reflect that is negligent. Sam used his immense privilege to forward a message to help his community back home- something sports players have been doing for years. The opposite of being "woke" is still being "asleep" - a situation in which bigotry was rife and people were more marginalised, and I don't understand why people want that back.

Nora was a fantastic addition to the episode and her scene with Ted in the beginning was excellent.

Great episode.

Football is life
Abidshadhin6 August 2021
Some people still don't get it that Ted Lasso isn't about football.......it's about life.

And the game of football was never only about football itself. It's always been about life.

Favourite episode so far
zhyarazadd6 August 2021
The show gets better after each episode, I found this one different, this was more hilarious and the picked up the pace.

But the best thing is Jamie's character development which is going absolutely amazing, and Rebecca is so gorgeous, Nora was adorable, Roy and the little girl's (forget her name) relationship is so pure, led tasso was hilarious lol, love this show, but I want them to focus more on football now on.

Best Episode so far!
furkqnqrslan6 August 2021
This could be the best episode this show had given us and i absolutely loved it every second of it. It includes an amazing character development and a very nice two characters bonding in one episode runtime and does both of that incredibly. Also Sam's situation is really worth to watch and it's a thing to get attention on.

One of the show's best episodes; brilliant setup for the rest of the season
demolaypuppy7 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Quite frankly, the people who are baffled by this show dealing with a locker room are insane. How could you have a coach that is as player-oriented as Ted Lasso without running into a locker room protest in 2021? You couldn't. A "player's coach" like Ted, who gives players room to speak their minds and emphasizes personal growth over wins and losses (leading a locker room with players from around the world no less) is bound to encounter situations like this. Whether you agree with the specific protest or not (if you side with the corrupt company, then you've got some problems) I cannot see how you lodge a complaint against this being a storyline. It was inevitable. Ignoring this dynamic of the locker room would have been unconscionable. The character arc they are building with Jamie is very promising. Sam continuing to find his voice in the locker room is massively exciting for the show. The reintroduction of "Sassy Smurf" was smart, and giving Rebecca an honest to God motivation to grow (being a role model for her God-daughter) were great steps for the rest of the season. If you disliked this episode, you disliked it because you (wrongly) don't think athletes should ever protest. You didn't dislike it because it told a story badly.

Just perfect
jrobertobg6 August 2021
This episode is just brilliant. The Sam's arc about Dubai Air and how the team managed it has turned this episode into my favorite.

First time writing a review for this show!!
tomrao46 August 2021
If I had the time to write a review on every episode they would all be highly positive and all 10's.

But this episode was the first episode where I genuinely got that hurt throat feeling at the end. I shredded a tear and all at the final moments lol. I don't wanna give away anything but you are in for a treat!!

Going downhill fast
vanquish20208 August 2021
Loved season 1, season 2 so far is average to poor. Don't you just love when rich jet setters lecture you about the environment? When 13 year old girls play the adults, and tough adult footballers become effeminate children? And apparently all the jets and buses and Lambos use no oil or gas products, and Apple anything is just so amazing and good for the environment. Liberal elite hypocrites at work again. Take a funny show and turn it into a political soapbox, as per usual. Sad.

Season 2 is a big letdown from season 1
ssadonnelly-191067 August 2021
There is nothing in this episode that was laugh out loud funny. And the Tech Industry attack on Big Oil social commentary to me seemed like lazy writing and filler. If they think they can turn this into some kind of UK Channel 4 style comedy drama I can't see it lasting past a third season to be honest.

Maybe the tenth piece of content I've ever reviewed a 10
atoms13406 August 2021
Just watch it man, no more needs to be said. But my review is too short so I'll just keep on typing until it's long enough, good on you I've youve gotten this far but the reward won't be worth it, come on you've got to stop reading this by now. You could've watched the whole episode by the time you've gotten to the end of this non review. Seriously though, go watch it. I'm done now. Bye. Ok forreal. Bye.

Err... How about a little less self-righteous
jljacobi6 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First off, I'm an ardent environmentalist. If you spill oil, you should be forced to live in the mess until you clean it up. That said, the subject could've been handled with far less sanctimony and without the self-congratulatory, virtue signaling tone. I'm so brave that I put tape over a logo! Not one person dissents. Gimme a break.

In point of fact, regardless of my beliefs, I've had it up to here with my entertainment being invaded by messaging. Shut up, join Greenpeace and do something real.

And exactly what do you want your audience to do about it? Try a tack hammer rather than a sledgehammer. Place the seed of awareness, then get on with the show.

I was enjoying this (except for the pubescent swearing and teaching adults how to behave) for the first 20 minutes, hence the 6. Then the MESSAGE. Eff me.

If they don't treat the consequences realistically in the next episode, I'm out of here. Even if they do, I'm not sure I want to watch it. What part of escapism escapes you TL crew?

I Have Liked The Series, But...
fleck05IMDB29 September 2021
...come on. Two really big - annoying - problems with this episode.

First off, maybe have a writer on staff with teen kids before introducing a teen character on the show. (There's no way any of these writers have teens... and if they do and they sound like this kid they're raising bizarre children).

Second, calling out a large corporation doing terrible things is good, but this was so preachy and simplistic it was just ridiculous. Making this storyline harder to swallow was seeing it on an Apple show - a large corporation with multiple human rights issues of their own.

Season 2 episode 3 is the best episode yet.

Almost every character had a great episode for their character arc. The Season still needs a defined path but the Episode was wonderful!

Warning: Spoilers
What with social commentary, a fine performance by young Kiki May as Nora and Led Tasso, this one touched my heart as well as my funny bone. And yes I am a late comer to the Lasso train.

Borderline Political
earl-528547 August 2021
This is my favorite TV series of all time. Having said that it must not become political and become influenced by Apple's executives otherwise I will stop watching it. Having said that (again) it brought my attention to something that I had to research and was glad I did. Bringing our attention to things like this which we should be aware of is not political but when writers go this far they can become emboldened and let politics creep in and dominate, like "The Good Fight".

Keep it loose guys as your writing is brilliant and the acting does the writing justice.

Great episode and also brought awareness to an important issue
jjsstovell8 August 2021
It's a great TV show, but some people with their negative reviews are taking the content of the episode way too serious.

It was a great episode and brought some attention to the sponsors, just like Ronaldo and Pogba during the Euros. The sponsors need to be held accountable as well so good job.

Rated a 9 because I personally need to see more football in a show about football. Good episode otherwise, just don't make every episode political. Keep those borders of real life and fantasy clear.

One of the funniest episodes I've ever seen
terrylarosa7 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Who cares if they throw in political agendas. That's part of life. Just about everyone incorporates political conversations these days. You don't want to hear it go live in a cave sucking your thumb. Instead of looking at the incredible gesture from his teammates these eggnogs get rattled by political stuff. Get a life. Now onto the show. Lasso's Hyde change was hilarious as a welcome change from his usual, overly trying to please demeanor. As well as Jaime's desperate ( and most probably doomed to fail ) attempts to change as well. On the sexy side B. A. B. Keeps wearing outfits highlighting her incredible figure. As usual the warmth from this show elevates it above most others. Look for Lasso's name change of Chuck E Cheese to a British one that made me almost pass out from laughing. In conclusion the reviewer who said he found nothing funny needs serious help. This is one hilarious show and this episode ( including the political, normal life agenda ) bring it back to the greatness of the first season.

Of course they had to find a way to get Jamie back in the fold, but this was a little too ridiculous. If he was a rising star he could've gotten an offer from a top flight team.

Do the Right-est Thing
MrFilmAndTelevisionShow10 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Definitely a good episode, I think they did well to address the issue they did without making any politically snarky comments which I liked. Not the best episode ever but a good one nonetheless.

Why though did Sam call his mother "mom" he speaks British English thus he should say "mum".

Meh!!!
mhmnisha6 August 2021
Not bad but not good either. I think they have to show some minutes on the pitch. 1st season was well planned but so long the 2nd season make me believe that it is not well planned. But it is just 3rd episode. I think they will overcome their deficiencies through the rest of the season.

do not deceive yourself
ArcherWei8 August 2021
I know that the writer wants to tell us that do the right thing no matter what happens, but you are in real life, not some fairytales, and in real-world, if you mess it up, you need to be a man and fix it. Do not deceive yourself it is the right thing and other people will understand and forgive.

Give up the fortune cookie comments, wake up!
