A few weeks ago, Michael Welch ("Mike Newton" in the Twilight series films) let his followers on Twitter know that he'd be back to reprise his part in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1.
"It looks like I will be back for Part 1! WooHOOO!! Part 2, I'm not sure yet."
In the book, his character appears in Breaking Dawn as a guest at [*spoiler warning*] the wedding of "Bella" and "Edward Cullen" but is not discussed past that point. So, since it's all but guaranteed that this portion of the story will conclude in Part 1, Welch's return for that and not the second makes sense.
Team Twilight got the chance to speak to Welch after a screening of his newest film Unrequited, and he discussed a bit about his involvement with the Saga.

This summer, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Michael Welch's film Unrequited will be released to theaters, and, so far, the studio responsible for the project (Lucky Day Studios) has been putting together some interesting promotional information for the movie. A website, poster, and iPhone App for the film all made their ways to the web last year, and the trailer for the film came about as well. The story behind Unrequited, according to the film's website, is as follows: Psychological thriller Unrequited tells the story of Ben Jacobs, a troubled young man who, on his 18th birthday, must leave the group home for “troubled teens” where he has been living for the past several months. After moving back in with his mother, Ben discovers that his girlfriend, Jessica....

Not sure how we missed hearing about the new indie thriller Unrequited, especially since it stars one of the Twilight kids, Michael Welch, but considering he's a human in the Saga rather than a sparkly vamp or a member of the wolf pack, I guess it's understandable. In any event, a trailer landed online today for Unrequited, and we've got a look at it right here.
First, though, here's a synopsis of the film, which is directed by Jason Epperson (runner-up on the Steven Spielberg-produced Fox reality series "On The Lot") from a screenplay by Jeffrey Day and Thomas Lockridge: Unrequited tells the story of Ben Jacobs (Welch), a troubled young man who, on his 18th birthday, must leave the group home for “troubled teens” where he has been living for the past several months. After moving back in with his mother (Clare Carey), Ben discovers that his girlfriend,...

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart may be "the most talked about" but Michael Welch clearly does "most of the talking!" It seems that nearly every day, we have a new interview from him to bring to you! This time he talks to MTV. We also have a short video interview with Kellan Lutz while eating Girl Scout cookies! We bring you an article about the different kinds of vampires that can be found in the world of entertainment. We have some new opinions on "The Aunt Story." We also have some great pics to share with you of Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning from The Runaways as well as Robert Pattinson playing guitar in Remember Me. And we also confront the continuing desire for "True Blood" actors to get their names in the spotlight. Bottom line, their marketing ploy isn't working very well and their jabs are largely disrespectful and pointless.

Today, we unveil yet another New Moon book cover. Apparently, this one is so good that it doesn't need a poster inside of it! We have an interview from Robert Pattinson while he was still in Cannes. We have photos of Rob and Emilie De Ravin arriving on set of Remember Me. We have a nice story about Kristen Stewart singing as part of her role of Joan Jett in The Runaways. Us Weekly released a great special edition of their magazine yesterday. And Mike Welch discusses Eclipse! Another New Moon Book Cover Apparently one New Moon book cover is not enough (the original), or two (one featuring Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner), so perhaps three will be the lucky number. We now have a third one that features Robert Pattinson! If this doesn't make my point about trying to suck every last penny out the fans, then I don't know what well.
