Did you realize this is at least the fourth adult spoof of Get Smart already? Well, you may find that hard to swallow, but this is not the time to go into an extended 'Would you believe' routine. You see, Get Smartass happens to follow the confusingly titled "Lickity Pink" (1989), the more obvious "Get Lucky" (2004) and the predictable "Get Luckier!" (2005). It is however the first adult Smart to incorporate plot elements from the 2008 big screen remake, which in turn has been accused of borrowing heavily from "Johnny English" (2003). As Maxwell Smartass, Dino Bravo steps into the shoe-phones of Mike Horner (Maxwell Laid) & Dick Smothers Jr. (Maxwell Sharp). Veronica Rayne joins a long line of actresses playing Agent 69 that includes Nikki Benz & Shy Love. Unfortunately, since this is one of those modern one sex scene per actor Porns, Max & 69 never even get together this time around, which basically means the entire film misses the point entirely and anyone hoping to see them hook up had better check out one of the previous porn parodies.
Starting off with a homage to the fifth season opening, it's great to see the production staff went to the trouble to shoot some zooms at all the well-known monuments in Washington D.C. Unfortunately there's no shot of Max in a flashy sports car, but the wobbly cardboard sliding doors Dino Bravo walks through are good for a chuckle. As the Chief, Rod Fontana has his left index finger in bandages for the entire film. It's probably an actual injury for Rod, but they could have easily incorporated some sort of explanation involving Max's clumsiness. Another opportunity wasted right there. The evil organization P.E.N.I.S. has learned the secret identities of the agents of Kuntrol and has dispatched a crack team of Fem-bot like seductresses to get each one of them into bed. So, the first extended love-making sequence features one of these seductresses (Kayla Paige) and the funnily named but otherwise completely unremarkable Eric Swiss as Larrabutt.
After a short scene introducing the evil Dr. Ho which features the kind of jokes found in each and every Dr. Who spoof, The Chief gives numberless agent Brittany Amber the casting couch test to see if she can be used as a counter-seductress. Instead he ends up in the same cell as Larrabutt. Now their fate lies in the hands of Max, who comes up with the brilliant idea of... letting himself be seduced. Yawn. First however, Dr. Ho is auditioning Seductresses Eden Adams and Envi to see which one is best capable of taking on Smartass. That's the required lesbian scene out of the way. Not surprisingly, neither one ends up with the assignment. Instead, Max has a one on one with Veronica Jett, his plans fails and 69 finds herself applying for a job on Dr. Ho's team, and... loving it. Surprisingly, Veronica Rayne is not quite as convincing as an agent as she is playing variations of herself on the Brazzers network. All things considered, Hustler Video could have had an inspired spoof in the making, but missed it by a mile, not just 'that much'.
