Just tears all over
IngridNO-6799712 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The crying, oh the crying.... My face is wet, my shirt is wet. I have seen this episode at least 10 times, but the crying will never go away. I think Denny dying is perhaps the saddest moment of the entire series.

Besides that, every little bit of this three episode finale is perfect.

I dont't think they ever managed to do anything like this again, the same way.

I love the show, every season in it's own way, but the quality of these first seasons is above anything.

The tension and the sexual energy between Meredith and Derek is also masterly done. It's electric.

My God if I could just erase ever watching Greys Anatomy (or get an amnesia) and get to watch the whole series again for the first time....

Best season finale we could ask for

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I have NEVER cried watching a tv show or a movie, I have shed a tear or two but NEVER cried, until I watched this episode. Izzie was, with ease, able to make me cry like a little girl as she was lying next to Denny wuth her beautiful dress. She never looked better ij the show. What a legendary scene. Great episode.

Warning: Spoilers
One of the best episodes of the entire series. Guy-wrenching, but heartwarming scene when the interns gather around Izzy as she lays on top of Denny's dead body... Alex then picks her up and carries her out. Also, chasing cars... perfectly played at the end as this happened and as Merideth looked both ways to see which guy she would choose.

Denny and Izzie
dhamza27 October 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I still can't get over the fact that Denny died... You won't believe the tears I had when I found out he died... I was really heartbroken because it is a really sad thing. I think Katherine Heigl is the real star of the show, and not Ellen Pompeo, although I do really like her and she's a great actress.

I know Denny returns for season three, but it would have been great if he was to return in the regular cast, but that was not possible, it would have ruined the entire show.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a great actor, I really enjoyed watching him in Grey's Anatomy and I am looking forward to his new projects.

I just don't get the hate on Izzie/Katherine Heigl
CrookshanksG8 July 2021
There is a division of opinion regarding Katherine Heigl's Izzie Stevens. And sadly, many of those opinions are negative. And personally, I do not understand the hate.

Based on the last 3 episodes alone, Izzie's character made season 2 what it is. No season has yet to surpass the impact that this season made; ratings-wise. Of course there are a LOT of note-worthy episodes of this season: E5,6,16,17...but season finales are usually how the season is remembered. And when you think of season 2, you think of Denny and Izzie and LVAD wire.

There is of course a lapse of judgment in Izzie's part... but that's how the drama's supposed to go. And she delivered great! From episode 25-27, you can feel her love, panic, scared, guilt, defiance, stubbornness, happiness, hope, and pain, so much pain, and all those are for Denny. And you felt her succumb to the batte she lost and just gave up. A perfect roller coaster ride from one character, one actress.

My point again is I do not understand the hate that is thrown to the character.

Is it because of how the writers made Izzie?

Or how Katherine Heigl portrayed Izzie?

Because if it's the first one, I agree that Izzie's storylines are far from perfect. But I love that her character is so flawed because she is already physically perfect to look at. Like Cristina Yang said in an episode with the quints: "I like you better pissed off. You almost seem human." She is flawed here and there but she also has the most compassionate heart. If only Izzie's character stayed on for longer, I can only imagine the character development she'll have.

If it's the second one, then I don't think so, because Katherine Heigl is perfect for the role. Emmy agrees. And I couldn't imagine any of the main casts play the storyline as well as she did.

I'll end it there.

Cried my heart out
hollyhollytree13 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This was such a good episode. I was emotional at the end when Denny dies (sorry about the spoilers) I honestly cried my heart out. Katherine Heigl is such a good actress she was amazing in that scene. I agree with what someone else posted, she is the star of the show, Ellen Pompeo is a bit bland sometimes. The end scene was perfect, it was so sad that Denny dies but the music and the acting was just flawless. I love this show so much, I am completely and utterly addicted. And the McDreamy love story seems to have sparked back to life :) can't wait for the next season and find out what happens. Overall a really great episode which will definitely have you feeling emotional.

A Twist
bloodless_lover4 February 2007
Warning: Spoilers
A lot of spoilers! Sorry...

I don't usually watch Greys Anatomy, but i know roughly whats going on. The other night, episode 27 season 2 came on, and i watched it. The plot line was easy to follow, so i didn't feel lost. Things were funny, dramatic and intense. The whole thing with the prom being held for the Chief's niece, is funny and sweet, though sad for its reasons. I was so happy when Izzie excepted Denny's proposal (yes, i'm that sad) and she went away to get ready for the prom. I thought that the whole thing between Derek and Meredith, and their dog dying, was very good symbolism - the dog dying shows their whole sneaky 'relationship' dying also. Now, they have to make the decision whether to stop or continue. So, when they start getting it on in an empty doctors room, you wonder what they are doing. Next thing you know, the scene changes to Denny reading a book. He looks startled and in pain, and suddenly, he is flat line - his body rejects the heart. It was stunned, and felt physically winded - hands up to my mouth in shock and everything. But what is so sad, is when the scene slides onto Izzie coming up in the elevator, ready to find her soon-to-be husband, oblivious to the sudden tragedy. When Callie goes into find Meredith and Derek, and finds them panting, hair all messed up, eyes wide, and Meredith's dress undone, she says nothing, but the look she sends Derek is priceless while she does up Meredith's dress. Callie tells them something is up with Denny, and they go to him. Asking where Izzie is, they find out she is in there with him. You go in to see the heartbreaking scene of an emotionally shocked Izzie lying beside Denny - i felt tears prick at my eyes - I know, boohoo and all that, but it was sad! Then, there is the memorable, and tear jerking quote from Izzie - 'An hour ago he was proposing, and now he is going to the Morgue. Isn't that the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard?' By now, the tears were flowing, and the Chasing Cars song playing in the background (that song goes with any scenario doesn't it?) doesn't help. Alex says how it isn't Denny anymore, and carries her away, her sobbing into his shirt. Next thing is the Chief asking Derek and Finn if they have seen Izzie and that lot. That is when they walk down, Izzie - red eyes and mascara smudged - leading the dismal group. She confesses that it was her, and her alone who cut the wire, using the line 'I thought i was a surgeon, but I'm not. So i quit.' and she walks out, followed by upset and startled Alex and and George following after her down the stairs. The end scene is Meredith having to make a decision between Finn and Derek - the vet finally confronts her, with all the lovey-dovey, smouldering looks between Dr McDreamy and herself.

I apologise for all the spoilers, but yeah... i personally loved that episode, and was heartbroken (Denny and Izzie were a great couple) and just wanted to tell everyone. I know, sad. But that's how i am. :)

McVet or McDreamy??
Bimba218930 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
What a great finale! Im going to Japan next year gee I hope I can get Cable TV cos I cant miss the seasons! The last episode only just aired last night in Australia!! OMG!!! Poor Izzy..we all know that Denny was perfect for her..and I was crying when she was telling the chief about how Denny makes her feel like herself, and not just a pretty blonde with big boobs!! I thought that was sweet. It was sad that Izzy had to miss Denny just before he died.. I was hoping they would get together cos he was beautiful... Now lets talk about the Mc doctors here! I am unsure who Meredith should choose. both guys are great for her! She has Finn who is supportive and loves her, and is patient and kind...he is a beautiful guy, but then there is Derek, who she has never really gotten over, her flame,...and that LOOK....how full of love and 'subliminal messages' was in that MC dreamy look while Finn and Meredith were dancing!!! Oh, I hope the season comes back on before I go to Japan! And Christina and Burke..she needs to stand by him.... I love this show!!!!

seriously, important choices to make
tnamarielocsin6 September 2006
i have already seen season two although it hasn't been shown here on TV yet, i got really lucky when i got a DVD copy. with the season ender episode, i just can't get over this and been trying to search and ask people if they happen to have the season 3 copy already! for me, i think the symbolism of "DOC" the dog for Derek and Meredith is huge. with the dog dying, it shows that the personal link between them died also. i feel sorry for them. with Meredith, i can really see that she loves Derek so much it practically hurts. that is why i too feel like i am at the crossroads on whom to choose between mcdreamy or mcvet though i also want for Meredith to move on and have a life with Phin (who is hot, nice and very patient with her), i know that Derek will be hurt whenever he sees them together BUT the thing is he has to leave Addison first. hey, he can't just have a wife and a lover at the same time... seriously...

i am really so looking forward to the next season! want to know if izzie was allowed to quit which will be a loss, seriously... and Burke, what happened to him? can he continue being a surgeon???

Aww...that's so sad....
perfectly-messy24 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the finale a few days ago...and seriously, its much better than the last season finale....And damn I can't get it off my mind. Probably CZ of 2 things, 1. the girls keep talking about it. 2. I keeps listening to that song...

OK, that's get on the summary aye. This finale is very touching...With the race of getting Denny a heart and Denny's operation. That's like a roller coaster ride. OK, in the end Denny got a new heart, after Izzie decided to steal it...(who ever the other person is, unlucky him) Then what's exciting is that Denny propose to Izzie. I was like...what??? u guys don't even know which other that much...and getting married already? But the sad thing is that they didn't get married CZ....Denny got a stroke and died...while he's reading and probably waiting for Izzie. :( Then they played that Chasing Cars song by Snow patrol...(Good soundtrack!!! So suitable) and Denny was cool, even though his line can be a bit cheesy...lol And Meredith and McDreamy and McVet...well this love triangle is making me not to like Meredith. Its just my opinion.

Loved the episode, the season... everything about this show!
ajnanou9 June 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Sorry for the spoilers. I thought this was an excellent end to the second season.

I know I'm silly, but in my heart I can't help rooting for Meredith and Derek, damn nothing compares to the chemistry those two have - not Derek and Addison, not Meredith and the vet. I don't care, those two just BELONG together. Haven't seen the other seasons yet, but I do hope they eventually make it...

And, I seem to be like the only person who thinks so, but I SO did not like the Izzie-Denny storyline. It's so obvious Alex loves Izzie, and it just seemed kinda forced with Denny to me. And besides that, I always knew he was gonna die. Don't wanna be mean, but come on... the love never felt real to me. Just the last instants when Alex held her, had more meaning to me than her whole thing with Denny.

Anyhow, that's all I have to say. Loved the episode, loved the season, and above all I LOVE the show. Grey's Anatomy... Rock on!!!

OMG
MidoriAi5 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Just fkng leave your wife already! And why would you start a relationship and make him believe is going somewhere?!... AND LET THEM AT THE PARTY TO GO HAVE SEX?! I hate them. Even tho that, I'm not going to rate this low. It wasn't a bad episode. I get that the wife wants to stay and fight for the marriage, but I think Meredith's boyfriend is the only one who doesn't deserve to be treated that way. The writers made it that way to pose Meredith and the other doctor can't remember name as unfaithful and selfish as they can be. This relationship deserve to have a bad ending. And why would you kill the dog??!! I cried for him.

Izzie killed him
bwstover8 June 2022
Why go boo Hoo, Izzie killed him, and he would still be alive. They should have gotten a better actress than Ellen Pompeo, does she have a speech impediment? George is just irritating. The rest of the actors are good though. It's too much a cheating doctor's theme. You just can't respect these characters and their actions. The surgeries were cool.
