"Well, this is typical of getting a girl pregnant. Only a man would do a thing like that."

Warning: Spoilers
A young woman named Sandra (Susan Blu, "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood") visits the apartment, tearfully telling Janet & Chrissy that Jack has gotten her pregnant. When he finds out, he musters up the nerve to do the "right thing", and propose to his girlfriend...who is NOT Sandra. As it turns out, this is all a classic 'Three's Company' misunderstanding that arose from the sleazy machinations of ever-shifty Larry (Richard Kline, just as hilarious as ever).

Good, solid laughs abound in this amusing script, played to perfection by the cast. John Ritter is in peak form, whether he's stuttering through his marriage proposal or confronting Larry over the problem he created. (It's a hoot when, instead of opting to slug Larry, Jack plucks a hair off of his chest.)

Jack would do his own fair share of shifty things over the course of the series, but here it's Larry that really gets the ball rolling. Just one example of typical Larry behavior is that he keeps a supply of "my mothers' wedding ring" to give to soon-to-be-ex-girlfriends.

The Ropers don't have as much to do here, not interacting with the other main characters that much, but there is a priceless moment where their pet bird utters the word "dumbbell" instead of Stanley's name. Stanley also figures in the hysterical closing sequence as Sandras' FURIOUS father (Ted Gehring, "The Domino Principle") goes after him, mistakenly assuming that he is "Jack".

A good rebound from the previous episode, which wasn't up to the usual standards for the series.

Eight out of 10.
