For Queen And Country

Warning: Spoilers
An intriguing episode which as allows with Spooks wraps fiction around real events but in this case rather than a general event this was about a singular and specific happening: the death of princess Diana. In that respect it would at first appear quite outrageous but in fact the episode speculates on the cause of the crash and includes many conspiracy theory but comes to accept that it is most likely a pure and unfortunate accident.

The fact that the whole thing is inspired by an ex super Spook wanting to clear the name of her boyfriend (a body guard for Diana) by breaking into MI5 headquarters to get them to investigate and then in turn trying to blow up the queen was totally crazy but still interesting and good viewing as the cast play it straight and believably so.

There is a great performance by Lindsay Duncan as the ex Spook. It is a great character and Duncan acts it so well that it is a pity she hadn't appeared in the series previously in the role before she went rogue.

I could have done without another last second diffusing of another explosive device and the rooftop shooting in the final two minutes but another watchable episode.

Hyperventalatingly amazing!

Warning: Spoilers
When I first started to watch spooks, it was because Rupert Penry-Jones was in it, as I had seen him in Casanova and I thought he was totally awesome. This was at the start of series 5, and I just knew it would be great.

The Monday it was on, throughout the day I was looking forward to it so much. At 8:45 I was watching BBC One so I didn't miss a thing. And when it came on, I was so happy! I'd realised the night before that Rupert is amazing. I was talking for so long the my friend on the phone. She was looking up pictures of Emma Watson and her "Unbeleivable sense of hideous clothing" and I was looking for pictures of him.

At the end, I was hyperventilating. When they said they'd blow up the wall to let water in, I was so scared for Adam and Ross. I didn't want either of them to die because I had got so attached to them. I immediately thought 'but that will kill Adam!' They then said "That will kill your agents though" As the water came down the corridor I was hyperventilating. When they were banging against the door I was shaking. and as he pulled out the metal, I thought "YES!" And so that sums up my commentary on me watching. I thought the actors all play their roles so brilliantly. Rupert especially ;)

Diana

Angela Wells is a legendary ex agent. She visits MI5 headquarters and sends it to lockdown as she bought an explosive device with her.

Wells is convinced that Princess Diana was murdered by the British security services. Harry was a part of a secret committee that planned it.

Wells late boyfriend was once part of Diana's security detail and he was also Ruth's step brother.

It was a rather preposterous episode. It was also about an agent who has had a breakdown. The Spooks team has to somehow neutralise Wells or confirm her suspicions.

There was some nifty fake footage about Diana's final moments in Paris. As a finale to the fourth series it felt rather flat.
