George the Bum
Samuel-Shovel10 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Jerry has recently begun dating a former gymnast but is underwhelmed when his expectations in bed are not met. Kramer has to pass a kidney stone. Elaine has to work on a merger when Mr. Pitt gets distracted by a 3-D painting. George's girlfriend's mother thinks he's a bum when she sees him eat food out of the garbage.

This is definitely one of my favorite episodes out of this season. George's plot is hysterical and really steals the show. Just when you think George can't go down anymore, he figures out a way too. The other story threads are all solid as well. My one key complaint in this one is that there's not enough for Kramer to do in this one.

Funny Hodgepodge
Hitchcoc15 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
At the center of this episode is Jerry, who has met and is dating an Olympic gymnast from Romania. His expectations are ridiculous and she is bored with him. Although, thinking he would be part of her apparatus is pretty funny. George is at his best. He meets a nice girl and screws everything up by embarrassing himself in front of her mother on three occasions. At one point he takes a partially eaten eclair out of the garbage and is caught nibbling on it. The other factor in this episode is Kramer (the master of physical comedy) in the process of passing a kidney stone. The scene at the circus is pretty funny as he screams in pain. Wonderful mixture that all comes together.

Great Mr. Pitt episode
mszouave20 December 2021
A decent episode made great by Mr. Pitt (especially doing his unintentional Hitler impression) and probably my favorite line in all of Seinfeld- "What the Hell, I'll just eat some Trash!)

Season 6, Episode 6, "The Gymnast"

Extremely underrated, "The Gymnast" may well be my favorite episode from Seinfed's 6th season. First and foremost it's noteworthy for Ian Abercrombie's performance as Mr. Pitt; he truly steals the show in this episode, and his final scene alone is one of the season's most laugh out loud hilarious moments.

He's not alone though. Michael Richards and Jason Alexander are at their best. In addition, Romanian actress Elina Löwensohn is terrific as Jerry's girlfriend-of-the-week, and their final conversation is fantastic, even if it makes no sense at all.

Nonstop hilarity in this phenomenal ep
briginsh31 January 2024
Nonstop hilarity in this phenomenal episode. Highpoints for me were the whole George plot, Kramer's reaction to his kidney stone and, of course, Mr Pitt's ridiculous, hilarious closing oration (in dreadful taste, I might add!).

That's about it, the rest of this review is basically filler! I would say that the Jerry subplot was not so strong, and I could not summon much enthusiasm for the painting subplot.

More? Well, Michael Richards always impresses with his physical comedy skills, Julia Louis Dreyfus shows impeccable comic timing, George the perfect straight-man. And Jerry the gravitational center the planets revolve around.

"Well, that's garbage"

A funny episode.

Its about George striking out with his gf. Jerry dating a gymnast, Kramer passing a kidney stone and Elaine well nothing much.

This episode is funny because of george everything else is ok. Jerry gymnast store felt dull.

What can be learned?: Don't eat garbage from the garbage

Verdict: classic episode.

Mr Pitt outzones the zone of interest
safenoe19 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It's hard to believe I first saw The Gymnast when it debuted all those years ago, wow that's 30 years ago, yes that long ago. But it stands the test of time and the final scene where Mr Pitt pretty much unintentionally outzones Brian Glazer's Zone of Interest is satirical gold for sure.

Lois Nettleton, who played a key role in the famous Twilight Zone episode, Midnight Sun, guest stars in this episode and it's quite funny that her character thinks George is a hobo and eats eclairs from the bin. Yes, we hate it when people through half-eaten eclairs in the bin.

Mr Pitt's obsession with the 3D image was pure 90s. In fact, to this day I still can't see the image in those 3D images.

Pitchfork Kramer.

The way Jerry talks about the gymnast is very sexist.
