Larry (Garry Shandling in peak neurotic form) has to pick a host for a new late night talk show that will air right after his show. Meanwhile, an irate Hank (a hilariously pompous Jeffrey Tambor) tries to find the prankster who wrote a lewd remark in his latest newsletter.
This episode offers a lot of biting satire on the behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing that's part and parcel to Larry's show: The scene with Larry and Arthur (a superbly irascible Rip Torn) putting up with a couple of smarmy network executives is pure edgy comedy gold, Larry's uneasy backstage conversation with David Letterman is likewise hilariously awkward, and Bobcat Goldthwait's disastrous audition for various network affiliates is simply priceless. An absolute riot.
