My favorite episode of season 1

I must say every time I watch this I feel satisfied. From beginning to end there's no dull moment. I love this episode probably the best of 1st season. It starts simple then builds up from Lucy wanting a freezer, Ricky says no, Ethel helps buy one from her relative and they order too much meat not realizing, they sell meat but get caught, then Lucy hides the meat it goes on and on and on. Classic Lucy episodes.

Warning: Spoilers
Warning don't read unless seen episode.

This episode is an honorable mention in the show, not a lot to say about this episode as it's just funny as it's a predicament that just keeps building up and gets even funnier than before.

Really like the fact that Lucy accidently ordered what look like a surplus of meat, we just see the delivery guys keep piling them on. Lucy and Ethel then try to sell it all on the side, really like the back-alley accent Lucy uses along with some lingo which cracks me up, of course we see the plan just goes kaput.

Of course, the payoff is when Lucy as she is trying to hide evidence from Ricky, she accidently locks herself in the Freezer. It plays out like a live action cartoon, really like the make up job on Lucy being frozen stiff with all the icicles hanging from her.

As well as her physical performance as we see her almost crying and panicking a little, but we can't hear her as the window is soundproof which makes it funnier because it leaves certain dialog and sound to the imagination and just her facial expressions.

It was also funny seeing Ricky trying to communicate with her on the other side to calm her down. As they all get her out, we then see Lucy frozen completely still and just fall into their arms like a log.

This comedy won't leave you in the cold.

Classic episode!

Nearly perfect. Well pretty much perfect.

This is I Love Lucy at it's best a simple plot taken to hilarious highs .

In an attempt to save money Lucy and Ethel buy a large walk in freezer from Ethel's uncle who is retiring from the meat business. All they have to pay for is the hauling and installation. They of course go overboard and buy an entire cow ! Seven hundred pounds of it! How will the explain it to Ricky and Fred ? Lucy " you don't suppose they would believe a cow wondered in there and fell apart do you ?" Ethel has her doubts. They couldn't even sell much of it down at the local butcher shop. Their efforts to hide the meat go badly and Lucy is locked in the freezer with hilarious results.

The singing segment could have been shorter but otherwise a stellar episode. Still it provides some good bits display how Ricky responds to Ethel's flattery and Fred's frustration while Lucy tries to hide the meat.

The Freezer and The Kleptomaniac episode are my favorites from season one.

Warning: Spoilers
Lucy's running a black market meaning racket in this episode where she along with Ethel purchases a big freezer and accidentally gets 700 pounds of beef which desperately tries to unload. This leads to a scene at the butcher shop with Lucy's fellow former chorus girl Barbara Pepper (later Doris Ziffel of "Green Acres") and Lucy and Ethel hawking meat. Then later, they try to prevent Fred and Ricky from finding out that they've bought and all that meat which leads to Lucy being stuck in the freezer and Ethel trying to keep them from the basement. Lucy's voice selling the meat is very funny, reminding me of street watch salesman in Damon Runyon stories. Plenty of laughs, briefly interrupt by Ricky's singing a few Spanish songs. The visual of Lucy at the end is hysterical.

Perhaps the best episode of the entire series!

Like I said, likely the best! From opening to ending, it's full of knee-slapping laughter! "Little" Ethel and Lucy purchase a freezer from her uncle and decide to start it off with meat. Unfortunately they're not math whizzes and order a side of beef!! Of course, they can't allow the boys to find out so Lucy and Ethel attempt to hide the meat when they come back unexpectedly. While Ricky serenades Ethel, Lucy serenades the freezer, where she, along with the beef, become frozen solid!! Absolutely hilarious!
