It's been 18 years since Alan Partridge first mooted the notion of Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank - and as of last week, the project is a dream no longer.
Eubank's team-up with Hostelworld is, of course, a deliberate tip of the hat to Steve Coogan's comic creation - but too often the telly schedules are plagued with examples of #AccidentalPartridge.
Behold, 12 shows that sound like they sprang straight from Alan's fertile mind - this little lot are on a par with Inner City Sumo or Arm Wrestling with Chas 'n' Dave.

Celebrity shepherding - Lesley Joseph goes from Birds to sheep and Fazer from N-Dubz lends livestock some street cred.
No-one makes a pun on Amanda Lamb's name, though. Missed opportunity.
2. Gordon Behind Bars
"Cooking in prison" was a format that Alan Partridge actually pitched to Tony Hayers, but it took foul-mouthed foodie Gordon Ramsay to make it a reality.

Early on in Minions, three of the jabbering yellow blobs realise that to continue their quest to find a master they need to head to Orlando. “Orlando” they scream as they write “Orlando” on a sign so they can hitchhike to Orlando. Orlando, Orlando, Orlando. They are going to Orlando and you bloody well know it.
The gang want to visit Villain-Con (this is the sixties, so Orlando is still a cesspit, apparently), but the Florida city’s name is clearly being dropped to plant the home of Universal Studios in innocent children’s heads. This is the key to the problem at the heart of Minions. It’s not been made because someone thought there was a story to tell about the hench-things from Despicable Me. And nobody’s stepped in to lend such a cynical concept worth. Instead, right from the jabbering cover of the Universal Pictures opening logo,...

I suppose that certain factors on "The Amazing Race" are out of the control of the producers. If your teams are in China and you're determined to get them to Malaysian Borneo, if there are only two evening flights, there are only two evening flights. And if there's a three-hour gap between the arrival of the two flights, then there's a three-hour gap between the arrival of the two flights. And if there are only six tickets available on the first flight or perhaps only three tickets available on the second, then that's just what it is. But if you then design a Leg in which the Roadblock is a straight-forward one-at-a-time task and the Detour includes at least one option that requires basically no effort at all, you've constructed a Leg in which six teams have almost limitless margins-for-error and the other three teams have no margin-for-error at all...

Amazing Race 24 eliminated Joseph "Joey" Graceffa & Meghan Camarena in episode 3 tonight. Tonight's episode ,kicked off with the teams, learning they had to catch a flight to Malaysia to get their first clue for this leg of the race. Once the teams got to their first location in Malaysia, they ran into a Road Block. During it, they had to repel ten stories down a huge waterfall to get their next clue. After successfully completing that, the teams had to head to some river, and build a water raft. Then ride the raft to their detours: River Delivery or Jungle Run. In the River Delivery detour, the teams had to transport goods using their water raft to the correct location to get their next clue. In the Jungle Run detour, the teams had to raft up the river to a jungle, learn how to use a blow spear weapon to kill...

Rayman Fiesta Run, Ubisoft’s follow-up to the hit mobile auto-runner Rayman Jungle Run, has been confirmed for a simultaneous U.S. and U.K. launch of November 7th. The game will hit the iOS App Store, Google Play, the Amazon App Store, and Windows 8 on that date, costing $2.99 in the U.S. and £1.99 in the U.K.
Apparently adopting the more detailed art style seen in the recent Rayman Legends, Fiesta Run will swap the jungle setting from the previous title with a more Latin food-based theme, complete with a maraca-filled soundtrack. It will also incorporate the Invasion level theme from Legends in some way, changing up the order and amount of enemies and traps players can expect to encounter.
More details can be found in the following press release:

Ubisoft has announced that they will be releasing Rayman Fiesta Run and Rabbids Big Bang on iOS and Android this fall. Fiesta Run is a sequel to last year’s acclaimed Rayman Jungle Run, while Rabbids Big Bang is a spin-off of the successful Rabbids franchise.
In Rayman Fiesta Run, players will take control of the limbless hero as he runs through a variety of environments. These locations will be filled with your typical tropical accompaniments such as exotic fruit, cocktail umbrellas and pinatas. Rayman will swim, shrink, punch and dash through more than 75 levels. In addition, Fiesta Run will also include Rayman Legends‘ Invasion Mode.
Check out the reveal trailer for Rayman Fiesta Run below.
A spin-off of a spin-off, Rabbids Big Bang is a physics-based puzzle game. Big Bang tasks players with guiding the Rabbids through space using a combination of a jet-pack and the surrounding planets’ gravitational pull.

Leaked promotional material revealing several unannounced Ubisoft games reportedly surfaced this past week, potentially revealing a high definition console port for the Vita’s 2012 Assassin’s Creed spinoff, Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD.
The image of the promotional material (which is embedded in the gallery below) is said to be from Ubisoft’s recent Fall Digital Day event. It first surfaced on the Chinese forum A9VG, where it was later picked up by the ever watchful eyes on NeoGAF.
It is impossible to say for certain if the Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD logo is legitimate, so consider this a rumor until Ubisoft makes an official announcement. With that said, the Brazilian classification board did issue a rating for Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation on the Xbox 360 and PS3 last year. So, don’t be surprised if the publisher debuts the digital port in the near future.

One of the most prestigious award ceremonies in the industry, The Gold Joystick Awards is back for its 31st year, and voting is open now for the public. This time, however, things have changed a little.
Categories for games have been altered, and instead of the previous genre-specific categories, 2013's awards will feature the likes of 'Most Wanted', 'Best Indie Game' and 'Best Storytelling'. Indie title, Hotline Miami leads the pack with six nominations, meaning it could run away with the lion's share.
This year's awards will be hosted by comedian, Ed Byrne, in London on October 25, and below you'll find the full list of categories and nominees...

Usually the Oscars are the award show that dominates February but video games get a look in via the D.I.C.E awards. There is of course the Spike VGAs in early December but D.I.C.E, which take place on the 7th of February, make sure to get the final word.
D.I.C.E stands for Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain and is one of the leading peer-to-peer awards show in the industry and uses the four terms in its abbreviation to judge it’s winners.
This year, Journey has come out as the clear forerunner with 11 nominations, while The Walking Dead lands in second with it’s 8, Far Cry 3 gathered 7 and Halo 4 collecting 6 nominations.
It seems that Journey and The Walking Dead are going to fight it out again as they have done all awards season, and deservedly so. Those two games really are a cut above the rest.

Whether surviving the zombie apocalypse, saving the world from evil-doers or, ya know, crafting clever flying contraptions for cartoon pigs, this year’s best gaming apps provided plenty of compelling reasons to let our home consoles collect dust while we gamed on the go.

Cue fan outrage at the lack of a Final Fantasy VII HD release in 3... 2... 1:
Square Enix has revealed via Famitsu that three games from the Kingdom Hearts series are getting a bit of HD polish in 2013. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix will include prettied-up versions of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix HD, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories HD, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, bringing the PS2 and Gba/DS games to the next gen. Curiously, 2005's Kingdom Hearts 2 didn't make the cut--a curious omission in what seems like a fairly comprehensive accounting for the whole series (likewise, the two mobile games and the recently released Dream Drop Distance aren't joining the lineup).
The Japanese release is coming to the PS3, keeping the Kingdom Hearts series away from Microsoft's console for that much longer.
While the announcement didn't mention a U.S. release, we can probably assume it'll be hitting the States sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Rayman has reared his ugly mug on numerous platforms, but today we're seeing him in his first adventure on mobile devices. Ubisoft announced today that Rayman Jungle Run, a Canabalt style side-scroller, has officially landed on iOS devices a day early!
Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and Pasta Games, Rayman Jungle Run is powered by the same UbiArt framework engine that brought us Rayman Origins and the games art style makes it pretty obvious. The game will see players using simple touch controls as they guide the ever-running Rayman through the jungle with gameplay reminiscent of other great mobile titles like Jetpack Joyride.
Rayman Jungle Run wasn't supposed to hit iPhones, iPads or Android devices until tomorrow, but Ubisoft apparently jumped the gun and stuck it in the AppStore today. Android gamers will still have to wait until tomorrow, but it's definitely worth checking out. The visuals are great and it's freakin' Rayman on your phone,...
