Sex & Nudity

  • A couple of extremely brief and subtle innuendos in the game's dialogue. Most players will likely miss these entirely since they're uttered as background noise either through a radio or casual chat between enemies (i.e. guards).

Violence & Gore

  • HIGH - There's some pretty brutal violence, including gunplay, stabbings, and (implied!) torture. However, it's worth noting you can complete the entire game by killing only a bare minimum of enemies. If you murder any innocent bystanders, it's an automatic game over for you. If anything, the game actually encourages you to finish levels without killing anybody at all, as you get more points for stealth rather than violence.
  • There is zero gore in the game. If the player decides to kill an enemy by shooting them, then there is a tiny spurt of red blood (though, this is rarely even visible since most of the environments are dark). There's no blood at all if the player decides to kill an enemy by knifing them. The only other time that blood is present is in the form of stains that are visible on the ground in two levels of the game (again, hard to see with the low light).
  • Despite the M rating, the violence is about on par with the original T rated "Splinter Cell", except for the fact that you now have a combat knife in your arsenal which you can use to bloodlessly despatch any enemies you wish to kill.
  • The possible boost in rating might have to do with a torture scene where a man is electrocuted to death (completely offscreen unless you shoot a sticky cam at the other wall but slightly disturbing dialogue about the victims state is uttered eg "his tongue is like a lump of coal"). It sounds a lot worse than it actually is, because one of the henchman whos torturing him is very reluctant to do so eg" I think I need to take a walk."

Profanity

  • Occasional use of "jack*ss", "sh**", "d*mn", and "screw you" (used as an insult, not a sex reference). This is usually uttered by the guards, not by the player's character. The exact frequency of these words depends on how often the player gets noticed or caught in the game, as the guards will usually only utter these words if they are startled by or find the player.
  • Also, some uses of "b*stard" and "b*tch".
  • I heard the word "asshole" once. Possibly more coarse language.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • None to speak of
  • Alcohol bottles are occasionally seen in the game's environment. The player may interact with these bottles to knock out opponents or to create a diversion (i.e. make noise). The player cannot drink from these bottles.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Can be very tense but nothing to worry about
