It is a known fact that for Ranveer Singh, there are two women who catch his attention in Bajirao Mastani – Deepika Padukone as Mastani and Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai. While his character Bajirao gets married to both, there is one more woman who vies for his attention.
Well, she is 55 year old veteran actress Tanvi Azmi, who plays Ranveer’s mother in the film.
“Yes, she has a powerful role in the film,” informs our source, “she plays the character of Radhabai, who was instrumental in Bajirao’s growth as a warrior. From a child who was disheartened with his defeats during practice to a mighty powerful warrior who never lost one of his 40 odd battles in the 1700s, Bajirao had a lot to credit his mother for his meteoric rise. This is where Radhabhai played a crucial part.”
No wonder, Sanjay Leela Bhansali needed a powerful actress to enact this part.

The casting of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's historic opus Bajirao Mastani just got even more interesting. Beating the formidable Shabana Azmi to it, her sister-in-law the very talented Tanvi Azmi has been signed by Slb to play the pivotal role of Bajirao's mother Radhabai. This bit of key casting was keenly monitored by industry insiders. Names like Shabana Azmi, Dimple Kapadia and Supriya Pathak were considered for the part. Shabana Azmi who was the first choice for the part was finally not chosen because the director is too intimidated by her personality to direct her. Interestingly Imtiaz Ali gives the same reason for not working with Shabana. Revealing details of how the grossly under-utilized Tanvi bagged the very important role, a source from the Bajiao Mastani team reveals, "Supriyaji was out because Slb had already worked his magic on her talents in Ram Leela. Getting Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra...

After many months of anticipation, Homi Adajania’s Finding Fanny is in cinemas, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Pankaj Kapur in the lead roles.
After the release of Cocktail in 2012, Homi Adajania moves away from Bollywood formulas and takes up again the quirkiness and unconventionality displayed in his debut film Being Cyrus (2006) and creates a group story which takes place along the roads of Goa.
Finding Fanny revolves around five rather dysfunctional characters that live in the quaint sleepy village of Pocolim, nestled deep in the interior of Goa, India. One night, the old postman Ferdie (Shah), receives a letter that is slipped under his door.
He realizes that it is the letter he had written 46 years ago to the love of his life, Stefanie Fernandes, asking for her hand in marriage. He discovers that the letter was never delivered. All these years Ferdie had...

Earlier we had reported that the Censor Board of Film Certification (Cbfc) had told director Homi Adajania to delete a dialogue in his upcoming film Finding Fanny if he wanted it to receive a U/A. The reason cited by the Cbfc was that the said dialogue, "I am a virgin" mouthed by Deepika Padukone was classified as vulgar. However, now we hear that the Cbfc chairperson Leela Samson has since cleared the dialogue and permitted it to be added back to the film. Apparently, Samson admitted that deleting the line was a mistake and it needed to be rectified. Confirming the development, Homi stated that this change in the Cbfc's request came after he submitted the Hindi dub to the Cbfc along with a mail to Leela Samson stating his case. Though the filmmaker had not objected to the cut, he wanted clarity on why the questionable dialogue had...

With the recent controversy about corruption in Censor Board, the members of the board seems to have got too stringent when it comes to Bollywood films. Finding Fanny, one of its kind film which will be released in English and Hindi is now facing censorship trouble in getting a U/A certification. In fact, Cbfc official Deepak who is supposedly the Personal Assistant to Chairperson Leela Samson has asked the film director Homi Adajania to cut down the word 'virgin' from Deepika Padukone's dialogue. According to a scene in Finding Fanny, Deepika Tandel says 'I am a virgin' to Arjun Kapoor and Deepak believes that the word needs to be chopped off. However, Homi Adajania is not happy with the decision and even claimed that when films like Dil Se had Preity Zinta asking Shah Rukh Khan whether he is a virgin and the recent 2 States having Alia Bhatt...

Once again guest reviewer Beth Watkins takes keyboard to hand to give usher thoughts on the films at the most recnet Chicago Asian Film Festival This time she give us her choices for worst and the best of the feature films, both of which had their world premieres at this festival.
Best: Listen Amaya (2012, dir. Avinash Kumar Singh)
Full disclosure: I was very primed to like this film, even just by the description of Farooq Shaikh in a romance with Deepti Naval. I figured that if nothing else, I would respond positively to a sure-to-be-well-acted age-appropriate romance between two stars I have always loved. I barely managed to keep myself from running up to Farooq Shaikh when he entered the cinema for the screening; the next day he paused briefly to talk with the man in front of me in a line and I think I let out a breathless “Eep!
