Truly one of the greatest

I rented this game not knowing what to expect. After all, I had previously rented Gauntlet Legends and had played some of the old games, and I knew how annoying it could get in some places (That is, having no inventory system)

I was pleasantly surprised to see that this game was Gauntlet Legends with loads of extra stuff.

The original Legends only had four worlds and four heroes:

Mountain (Warrior) Castle (Valkyrie) Forest (Archer) Desert (Wizard)

After that, you went through another two worlds to face the evil demon, Skorne. Then the game's over - nothing else to accomplish, except for four bonus characters that are easy enough to unlock during the game.

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy is that and so much more. There are now 8 different worlds, 8 different heroes, and 8 bonus characters.

Province (Sorceress) Mountain (Warrior) Castle (Valkyrie) Sky (Knight) Forest (Archer) Desert (Wizard) Ice (Dwarf) Dream (Jester)

Even after hours of fighting through all 8 worlds, plus the nigh-impossible bosses (Without the special weapons, of course) there's more. You must fight through 3 more huge worlds -

Desecrated Temple The Underworld The Battlefields

After which you fight the final boss, Garm.

The bonus characters are well-hidden, and you may spend hours searching for the trapdoor that brings you to it. With 8 bonus characters, that's a lot of time!

But not everything is great. For example, the graphics aren't much of an update from Gauntlet Legends. The gameplay has barely changed (Though that's what fans live for) and the story has little depth.

These, however, are overshadowed by the great gameplay, the hack-and-slash that you all love. This game will keep you playing for hours at a time, and I definitely recommend it.
