Storyline

Gauntlet Dark Legacy is about a wizard named Garm who used the thirteen runestones to summon a demon named Skorne. This demon, instead of obeying the wizard, killed him and banished him to the underworld. He then released his minions upon the land and scattered the runestones across the eight realms so that they would never again be used against him. "No one has dare try... Until now." -Gauntlet opening 2001

Excellent hack and slash video game!

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy is one of the best Gauntlet games of all time. It's the followup to Gauntlet Legends and starts off with eight character classes: Warrior, Valkyrie, Archer, Wizard, Sorceress, Knight, Dwarf and Jester. There's a lot of button mashing which is common in all Gauntlet games. In addition, there are eight alternative-modes for these characters to unlock, plus dozens of secret characters to obtain. With a multi-tap adapter, up to four players can play, with rules indicating how much they can damage each other.

The goal of the game is to destroy an incredible amount of evil enemies and reach the exit in each level. You must destroy the evil one named Skorne. It is not that simple though. Colored crystals are collected (say that 10 times) to open up more areas. Along the way you must collect 13 Runestones hidden throughout the realm to face Skorne in the final battle. There are many items to collect such as, shards and golden items.

Overall, it's a fantastic game, but does not have much replay value. There is not that much difference in gameplay throughout the levels. However, it is very addictive and still enjoyable. It's available on PS2 and now Gameboy Advance, Gamecube and XBOX.

I highly recommend this and also it's very easy to learn. It's just a fun game!
