In Hollywood it only takes one role to turn you into an icon, and one moment to take it all away. Long before cancel culture was a phrase, one iconic celebrity had a meltdown of epic proportions that helped usher in the age of the viral video. As many TV stars have found out, life after a hugely successful show can be quite tough for some. With Julia Louis-Dreyfus winning countless Emmy’s, Jason Alexander returning to his stage roots and Jerry Seinfeld continuing his legendary stand up career, its time we find out what happened to the other member of Seinfeld’s iconic cast: Wtf Happened to Michael Richards? Ya know… Kramer!
But as always we must begin at the beginning and the beginning began on his birthday July 24, 1949 in Culver City, California. After starting on the stand up circuit in 1979, Richards career would take off when he was...

Here at AfterElton.com, people aren't shy about naming their TV crushes, whether it's a sometimes-brooding, sometimes-happy-go-lucky roguish time traveler, a gruff, strong-willed police officer or a cable TV decorator stud. But there had to be someone who started it all for each of us. The one who first made our young selves one day notice that there was more to these TV shows than just the spaceships, cartoons, and things blowing up. Someone who made our pulse race and previously non-tingly parts go all tingly.
That was the hot topic of conversations at the AfterElton break room this week: Who was your first TV crush?
The responses we got varied quite a bit. Some people remembered the teen idols of their youth, some people remembered a character who didn't make the wardrobe department work very hard, while others remembered someone who ... surprised us.
But we don't want to just hear from Ae writers.

Mixing Comedy & Soap: A History of the Serialized Situation Comedy
By Doug Prinzivalli
As one of the producers of the hit web series Pretty - a parody hybrid of reality TV and soaps - I thought it would be a fun idea to take a brief look at the long history of the serialized situation comedy. The idea of mixing comedy with soap elements is not a new one - in fact it started over 60 years ago.
The First Hundred Years (CBS 1950-52) was a mildly humorous daily soap about newlyweds who are gifted with a bat-infested Victorian mansion. Sounds pretty wacky to me. After less than two years, it was replaced by something called The Guiding Light.
The Egg & I (CBS 1951-52) Based on a book by Betty MacDonald and the 1947 film (starring Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray) that followed, this show followed the misadventures of city folk...

Ever-dependable spunky lesbian Rachel Maddow discussed yesterday's quizzical California court decision to uphold the gay marriage ban while letting 18,000 couples slip past the doorman without IDs with her characteristic wit and charm.
Maddow also gave a nice shout-out to the various rallies and demonstrations that took place across the country in the wake of the decision, as well as a plug for the upcoming Meet in the Middle rally in Fresno, CA that is set to re-ignite the movement to get gay marriage legalized once more.
Personally, I'm excited to see Fresno on the map for something other than the utterly bizarre satire soap opera from the '80s that involved Carol Burnett, Charles Grodin and a hell of a lot of raisins. (If you don't know what the hell that's all about, do yourself the favor of checking out the clip below...)...
