Plot Summary

A behind the scenes short dealing with the making of The Comedians (1967). Although the story takes place in Haiti, it was actually filmed in Dahomey (now called Benin). Includes short interviews with Alec Guinness, Paul Ford, Richard Burton, and others. Dahomey had been an independent nation for about 10 years when the film was made. The situation in Haiti was such that the film could not be made there, but Dahomey was a close substitute and actually close in appearance to the setting. Written by garykmcd

Trivia This making-of trailer for The Comedians (1967) during the narrator's naming of the film's cast includes a piece of incidental drumbeat music called "Cuban Presto" by Syd Dale. While it wasn't used in the actual movie, a short time later, it was used by New York City's WPIX-TV for the theme to their movie bumper opening on late nights for "The Channel 11 Film Festival", in which variably sized squares containing drawings of famous film stars would momentarily pop up to the fast tempo of the music.
