Storyline
Plot Summary |
After giving the District Attorney another stinging defeat, Perry plans to take a vacation in China. That is, he was, until Rhoda, his old flame, meets him at a restaurant. Even though she says that she is asking for a friend, Perry can see right through her. It seems that her husband Moxley, who had been allegedly dead for four years, is alive and demanding money as she has married into wealth. The case escalates when the police find the body of Moxley and charge her with the murder.

Trivia | Although this entry in the series was critically well-received, author Erle Stanley Gardner reportedly hated it as did many of the readers of the Mason novel. Gardner repeatedly offered his services to Warner Bros. as consultant for the screen adaptation, but, in his words, "I have been continually snubbed." See more » |
Goofs | When Perry is picking out crabs at Fisherman's Wharf, he says, "Joe, we've decided upon these four antagonistic anthropods." Crabs are arthropods; there is no such thing as an anthropod. See more » |
