Skipper Gets What He Deserves
26 December 2023
The Skipper (Alan Hale, Jr.) from Gilligan's Island cons Josh Randall into a really dumb deal. Randall agrees to pay the Skipper half the bounty for wanted man named Shawnee Bill. Randall should have gotten suspicious when he read the poster and it described somebody fitting the description of the Skipper.

After the Skipper cons the money out of Randall, he puts it on the Pony Express to his wife, and then laughs at Randall and tells him "he is a big boy" and to pound sand.

Randall should have taken the Skipper out of town and blasted a giant hole in his guts and taken the dead body to any of his sheriff friends to sign an affidavit that he killed Shawnee Bill, and collect the bounty. That would have been better than to listen to annoying Skipper tell him how he would never get him back alive.

Unfortunately, we get to spend a whole episode with Alan Hale, Jr. Trying to "Little Buddy" Steve McQueen. The good part of this is that you get to watch the Skipper roll down a hill with a bullet in his guts, and the other bad guy gets some too.

Thanks to the writers' wanting an ironic ending, Randall gets the body to Skipper's home town, and finds out that he is a local hero, and sent $1000 to his sick wife, who happened to die the day before. So the money goes to their orphan daughter, and Randall got robbed by a dead Skipper.

If Randall had tried collecting by affidavit from another sheriff, and buried Skipper in some random town, he would have gotten his $2000 reward. One of those episodes where the writers wanted to show how Randall tried to be a nice guy and got screwed (but only because he was not smart about it).
