The walls are covered in graffiti, homeless folks lining the path, and perhaps a n'er-do-well scallawag pedaling drugs, porn or worse. Oh and throw in human trafficking and Pedos everywhere; frightening.
The $20 bill in Buffy's hand would have been swiped within the hour of the kids' journey. And having a cop assigned to the case straightaway, fagitaboutit! Best case scenario would be an Amber Alert. Worst case is the precinct is inundated with high priority calls.
