Season 3, Episode 7
5/10
A superlative cast. A meandering script.

Warning: Spoilers
There are elements of this Western entry of the series that seems like they could be part of an Italian horror film, one of those which starred British Barbara steel back throughout the 1960's. Indeed, there is a dark-haired mystery woman, the sister of a man that bounty hunter Lee Marvin had been searching for and never found, now deceased. Marvin comes back to his hometown to find out that the man has died and put a curse on him, and the townspeople take great pleasure in telling Marvin that he is doomed too faced a ghostly fate if he visits the man's grave. Marvin does indeed, and what he finds is indeed spooky. But there's so much talk and with little known about the deceased character, the details are scarce.

Marvin is effectively supported by Lee Van Cleef and Strother Martin, but the script is ineffective in providing real characterizations and real tension. I was hoping for so much more in this gothic western that ends up being very chatty with explanations that are too far-fetched to believe in the climatic explanation. I guess since Twilight Zone has so many classic episodes, not everybody is going to love every episode and certain ones will stand the test of time better than others. Had this featured a moodier atmosphere, it would have been a bit better but even then, it seems short on detail if long on incredible acting.
