A tyrannical choir director leads a group of girls. Their ages are hard to figure. They appear to be senior high girls. They are often snotty and mean. They perform at a very high level. One young woman, Miranda, has superior ability but is a holy terror. She is disrespectful and has an ugly temperament. One night she disappears and leaves behind things she would never think of leaving. Wallander is on the case. There is another girl who seems to have a crush on her. There is also a history of manipulation of men. Soon this other girl is missing. It is hard to figure out the case because the girls are closed mouthed and jealous of each other. Once again, there is some extremely careless police work at the conclusion which diminished the result a bit.
