Racist ? Mindless ? Unrealistic ?

I recommend this to " everyone " when I know that some will mot like it . It's also a fact that this movie is a slice from real life , which is why some people who can't believe these things happen and some other who have mistaken symbols for force , have disliked this . Pointing fingers to this film-makers isn't by any chance going to deny that this doesn't happen in the world and symbols authenticate the meaning in every way possible .

Very surprisingly , this movie discusses all the following ( and more ):

1- A very neglected face of racism , which is anger . Movies like " 12 years a slave " discussed racism from the view point that whites felt superior to blacks because they were raised to believe so , and even in Django Unchained , they backed it up with some fake scientific evidence . But here , some people are angry and uncomfortable in their lives . They bash it out in the form of racism , but also in other forms too if you paid a closer look to their lives . This was a very important theme in the story line of Jean Cabot ( Sandra Bullock ) . She accused the handyman " of color " ( Michael Pena ) of being a gangster when he himself , was repetitively offended and terrorized in his own life despite of being a very gentle , polite and loving person . She was mean to her housekeeper " of color too " although she was the one who eventually saved her . And through out those two actions , you can see the real heart of humanity . The hug between Jean and her housekeeper was really beautiful and said a lot about how human beings should always stand together and leave all this mindless racism behind . Also discussed in the Persian man's story line , where his anger , caused by everyone calling him an Arab and throwing him accusations , plus a personal incidence , led him to almost kill a human being , belonging to a minority too , who had completely nothing to do with the injustice and prejudice the Persian man's had met .

2- There's no such thing called " Black And White " . Human beings are like packages . The man who stole your car is a thief , but that's not his life-label . He's a thief at that situation , but he's a father at home , maybe more loving and caring than you are . Maybe he had done a lot of good in his life and this was his big mistake or downfall . This is discussed more than perfectly in Officer Ryan ( Matt Dillon )'s story line when , at first , all you can do is hate him for being that racist to the receptionist ( who turned out to be another racist after all , speaking of hidden racists , there's also the Chinese man's wife ) and even sexually assaulting a woman in that way , but at the same time , he's a man who cares so much for his sick father and would never leave him alone . He would do anything to make him feel better . He's a policeman who risked his own life to rescue another human being . Yes , he's been a racist , but we should never condemn people even if they made mistakes because we're no Gods , and because we may never know the other side of the story and because we may never know what other things this person does in life . We all make mistakes and we're all flawed .

3- Politics , and how dirty they can get sometimes , playing with the race card when the race is sometimes has nothing to do with anything going on . Perfectly discussed in Officer Hansen ( Phillip ) 's storyline , who's white , as he killed a black guy , not out of any spiteful feelings , but as a mistake trying to defend himself . It's debatable , but it still has nothing to do with racism . Maybe the other accidents shown in the movie had to do with racism ( as the two black young men stealing the car at first ) and maybe not ( the previously mentioned one with Officer Hansen ), but we may never know the truth because of how dirty politicians can be and how they are too afraid to tell the truth . A strong wake-up call to be honest at all times .

4- Many times , humans act disgustingly towards each other and are the real racists to their kind . Perfectly discussed in the Asian man's thread .

5- How we're all affected by each other , and how our lives intertwine . Discussed through the whole movie . It may also give you insight to why people do what they do .

6- How we should never believe in stereotypes , because they are not true . People who believe in stereotypes are the ones who make it true sometimes , in their own lives .

It's a piece of art that it's really entertaining and a slice of real life . It doesn't belong to those " artistic but complicated to understand " genres . These things also happen and are inspired by true life . Look around and think well . An applause to everyone who participated in this beauty . The acting ( I was amazed by Don Cheadle's in specific ) , screenplay , soundtrack , direction and editing were all marvelous . Thank you for bringing such insights into people's lives .
