My Babysitter's A Vampire________And Is She A HOTTIE
22 August 2011
The Disney Studios created Wizards Of Waverly Place to take advantage of the Harry Potter popularity, but for their answer to the popularity of the Twilight books they only had to import this film and the series that it spawned from Canada.

This film stars Matthew Knight and Atticus Dean Mitchell as a pair of nerd type high school kids who see a lot of strange things going on at their school. But they've got some more immediate and humiliating problems to deal with, at least Knight does.

For going out and leaving his little sister unattended his parents decide that he and the sister need a babysitter. But when teen dream Vanessa Morgan shows up, in the words of Shakespeare she's a WOW. But it also turns out that Vanessa is a newly bitten vampire who has to drink some human blood and soon to cement her status among the undead.

But where there's one vampire there are many in their middle sized Canadian suburb. There's a huge plot brewing by head teen vampire Joe Dinicol to raise some souls from way back in the counter reformation days when at that time he was a pastor of a church that practiced the black arts. But it also turns out that Mitchell and Knight have some hidden inherited talents that makes it possible for them to fight the vampires here and in the TV series.

I have to say that the best role in the film is that played by Cameron Kennedy who is their cheerfully geek type friend Rory. Even after Rory becomes a full fledged vampire, he neither acquires any social graces or really gets into the vampire scene. He stays friends with Knight and Mitchell and gets the best lines and scenes in the film.

My Babysitter's A Vampire is a pleasant and amusing enough made for television film which should spawn a series with a decent run of a few years on the Disney Channel here.
