Storyline

Ethan Morgan is a geeky freshman, not trusted by his parents to stay home alone with his little sister Jane. They hire Erica, a girl from Ethan's high school who is a huge fan of "Dusk", as a babysitter. However, Erica comes across her best friend Sarah, and Jesse, Sarah's vampire ex-boyfriend, on the night she is to babysit, and decides to attend a party that Jesse is throwing instead. During a fight between Sarah and Jesse, Sarah ends up at Ethan's house and tells Ethan's parents that she was asked to babysit instead. Ethan has a vision when touching Sarah, and notices she has no reflection in the mirror, leaving him suspicious of her. He confides this in his dorky best friend, Benny. Sarah leaves to get Erica back from the party, knowing the party is full of bloodthirsty vampires. Curious, the boys have Benny's grandmother watch over Jane while they follow Sarah. They see her feed on a rat and realize she is a vampire. Sarah quickly explains that she is only a fledgling, a vampire ... Written by Anonymous

Entertaining and enjoyable teeny-bopper horror effort
11 March 2013 | by (Los Angeles, Ca) – See all my reviews

After learning his fellow student babysitter is a vampire, a kid and his best friend team up with her to battle an evil vampire looking to harvest souls from the town's residents.

For a teeny-bopper vampire film, this one turned out to be a lot more fun than anticipated. One of the better features is that it manages to make the vamps something to be feared. Despite being set in a world of romantic vampire-lord, the creatures here are incredibly threatening and much more like traditional vampires, setting up a plan to steal souls, putting more interest in feasting than romanticizing and even openly attacking people to turn them into fellow vampires, making it a lot more savvy in dealing with these issues than would be expected. Even more telling is how much it deals with battling the vamps, managing to contain a lot more battles and confrontations which are a lot more intense, from the big brawl with the pizza-man to the raid on the house party as well as several other pretty big battles in here. These make the film a lot more action-packed and keeps it from being boring, as the darker-themed storyline and investigations also help out and the humor mixes well with the fair amount of suspense for a rather satisfying film. The only real down-side, aside from the lack of on-screen vampire violence, is the rather cheesy nature of this one derived from it's teen-centered approach as the jokes and attitudes towards what are supposedly-frightening figures who are instead treated as comical beings is a bit problematic to take for a more seasoned horror fan, yet strangely makes it a more-than-serviceable entry as a starter-horror feature.

Rated Unrated/PG: Violence and children-in-jeopardy.
