Wallander: Tjuven (2009)
Season 2, Episode 4
8/10
Vigilantes in Ystad
18 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
After a series of burglaries in Ystad three local men decide to start their own patrols as they aren't satisfied with the police response. They catch a Polish man who appears to be robbing a house and severely beat him before leaving him in the woods. The next day the man's wife reports him missing; it turns out he wasn't robbing the house, he was just collecting some tools needed for work. The plot thickens when the missing man's wife gives his phone to the police and they find a photograph of what appears to be a dead woman wrapped in plastic sheeting. The police now have a problem, it appears that there may have been two murders and they don't have a body for either possible victim. When he isn't investigating the murders Wallander is getting closer to colleague and neighbour Katarina by taking her son to football, he even gets roped in to a parents versus children match where he does not do too well.

I thought this was another good episode which kept me guessing as to who was guilty of what and what their real motives were. When the culprit was exposed it all made sense though. A slight weakness was Wallander's threat to quit when the prosecutor orders him to release the prime suspect due to lack of evidence; having police officers solve a case while suspended or resigned is rather cliché.
