Review of London

London (I) (2005)
9/10
Not for everyone
4 August 2007
This is a remarkable film, but definitely not for everyone. It consists of a somewhat shallow plot surrounded by extremely intense acting. Practically the entire movie takes place in an upscale bathroom which is bigger than my entire apartment. Many others have commented on the excellence of Jason Statham's performance, and I agree, but do not overlook the excellence of Chris Evans' performance. Dane Cook, in a small role, gives a performance against his stand-up comedy type which is also notable. Jessica Biel, playing the title character, has never been sexier or angrier on film. The opening scene with London (Biel) and Syd (Evans) borders on pornographic, and I mean that in a good way. All other observations aside, how could anyone not like a movie with three of the most beautiful men on the planet in the cast? It is too bad that this is an American film--perhaps we could have seen even more of Chris Evans otherwise.
